Big Phish Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I just picked up a couple packs of these and will be fishing them for the first time tomorrow. I know how to fish them but what I would like to know is what you guys think of them. Appearance wise i feel like there are better options for swim baits, but how they run will be the true test. Super User Micro Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 I fish the Swim Senko. I like it a lot. I use a weighted (1/8 oz) Owner Twist Lock 3/0 hook. I also fish them weighless on a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG hook. I like to fish them next to weeds and through the lily pads. They have produced a lot for fish for me. Quote
Flippin & Pitchin Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Find yourself some weeds and throw a swimming senko along or over them and have fun. I love these. For me a Pumpkin color has always worked best. Quote
kayakbill Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 The regular senko's I do very well with them, the swim senkos are just so-so for me. Except for the stupid pickeral the slimey bastages love the things. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 21, 2009 Super User Posted June 21, 2009 I use them and the fish seem to like them. That is good enough for me. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 Just my opinion though. These things make me feel constipated. Quote
Primus Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I've tried them but I prefer the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper. Quote
tritz18 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I actually have never caught a fish on them, I prefer regular senkos. but thats just my opinion Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 Huge producer, great value and this is how they should be rigged: http://www.***/articles/senko-gary.shtml 8-) Quote
adclem Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Haven't tried the Swim Senko yet. I have a lot of luck with the Yum Money Minnow, in 3 1/2". I do want to try the new 4 1/2" Swim Senko, but haven't yet. Later, Quote
The Outdoorsman Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I've used them and done well with the one bag I had of them. bought the black and blue and caught fish on them, but like the regualr senko, tore up quickly. I have some RI Skinny Dippers I want to try, seem like they may hold up better. Quote
Micropterus salmoides Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Makes a great trailer on a swim jig or chatter bait. Quote
Big Phish Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Thanks for the input guys. I fished one briefly today with no luck, but I didn't give it more than a dozen or so casts so I'm not going to pass judgment based on that. I fished it with a weighted 4/0 G hook and I'm going back out this evening and I think I'll try it weightless. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 For both the Senko and Swim Senko, the Skip Gap hook is the best performing hook I have used for Tx rigging. Add the Yamamoto Grub Guard and both will come thru vegetation a lot better. Quote
Big Mike in Fl Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I've tried them but I prefer the Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper. X2! I much prefer the skinny dipper, seem to hold up better, and they actually have a better action I believe. they are my new go to bait. Quote
Big Phish Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 So I've given them a few honest tries now and I've had no luck, and I've been using them in my regular spots where I can almost always catch fish. When I started this thread I thought I knew how to fish them but maybe I need a little help? I tried them with the weighted 4/0 G hooks, like the kind you would use for a fat ika and I tried just a regular weightless texas rig. I've been both reeling them straight in and I've also been pausing them and jerking them and nothing have shown any results. Should I be doing something different? Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted June 25, 2009 Super User Posted June 25, 2009 Just my opinion though. These things make me feel constipated. You should not eat them! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote

Also they can be a deadly Carolina Rig plastic :-X Quote
5151 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I fish them with GY 's shakey swimjig head(all sizes). I seem to do much better with the 4" version, tried taking an 1" of the 5" but just not same action at least in the waters i fish Quote
belak00 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Worked great for my 9 year old son. He caught over 10 and was having a blast watching his bait swim through the water. This was the most productive soft bait we used last time we went bass fishing. Quote
