Ok, My parents and I want to get the 12 foot boat we've been offered for free, but can't find a place to keep it. Our driveway is 12 feet wide at the top by our car port and our drive way is a hill. My parents own 2 cars so there is no space in our car port or in our driveway to store a boat and trailer. My mom has a 2010 GMC Acadia, my dad a 2002 Ford F150. Also, we aren't allowed to keep it in the front yard and probably cant get the trailer in our backyard and the boat wont fit in the back of my dads truck. Any ideas what we can do. Is a 12 foot Jon boat heavy?

Why don't you ask your parents what they plan on doing with the boat? After all, it their house, driveway, and yard.

My boats are in the garage, but that doesn't help you any. So, here's an idea.

Is there enough overhead clearance to suspend it inside the carport, above either vehicle? If so, problem solved.

A regular 12'jon shouldnt be too heavy should be able to carry it yourself. I had a 14' jon me and my friend could carry it with 5hp motor on it. A couple places no ramps so carry-on a must we carried it oh 30 yards or so.

If you can back the trailer up the hill, you may be able to move it to the backyard from there with a trailer dolly. Harbor Freight tools sells them. I use one to move my 18 foot Tracker boat into the garage.

Thething is, our fence has a small opening, so there would be no way to back the trailer up the hill and into the back yard. Whatt is considered a tight space to move the trailer through with a Trailer dolly? The trailer weighs 250 pounds and our fence is not very wide, but we do have a big back yard. I found this Trailer Dolly: http://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-duty-trailer-dolly-37510.html

Make the fence opening bigger. Then you can put it in the backyard!

You could ask the person who currently has the boat if he would be gracious enough to let you store it there either for free since he is giving it away or for some rent if it is not too far from home.

I'd keep it on the trailer in the front yard. Should neighbors make any mention of it, declare that it is "lawn art". Now get 2 or 3 old toilets and/or washers & dryers. That will guarantee that the neighbors won't say anything about the boat.

I recently picked up a 12' v-bottom and I just cover it and it sits on it's trailer in my back yard, usually. I was lazy the last time I used it and just stuck it in the garage where my truck goes. That next morning we had a storm with 110mph straight line winds. I am glad it was in the garage and that amazingly my truck that was sitting outside didn't get a scratch. I wish I could say the same about my house.

It's in the garage. However, the suggestion regarding suspending the boat in the carport is a good one.

That's the dolly I use. If the boat and trailer will fit though at all, it should work. You aren't going very fast anyway. With the dolly, you can position pretty precisely. I don't know what the whole setup will weigh, you could have some problem if it's on grass or mud. I imagine a jon boat and trailer won't be that heavy. I don't know how steep the hill is, you may be able to go up it with the dolly. My boat is quite a bit heavier, and I can go up a very slight incline, but not much. It's a piece of cake on level concrete, though.
