Super User Hooligan Posted July 11, 2011 Super User Posted July 11, 2011 Currently I carry a Sig 229 in .40 S+W. I had been carrying a 226 in .40 for a while. I like the ballistics of the 226, but the size of the 229. Currently looking into purchasing a Kimber Pro Carry II. Anyone else have favorites? Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted July 11, 2011 Super User Posted July 11, 2011 Never leave home without my Glock 27 Quote
Al Wolbach Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I carry a Kimber Ultra Elite 45ACP in the winter but found it difficult to conceal in the summer. I'm retired and the uniform of the day in summer is shorts and "T" shirt. I found myself frequently leaving the Kimber in the vehicle rather than carrying it due to difficultly hiding it. My solution, however warped, was to purchase a Ruger LCP for the summertime. My reasoning was, any firearm is better than no firearm. I originally carried the Ruger loose in my pocket but finally purchased a Bulldog PDA type holster and have been very happy with it, but a quick draw is out of the question regardless of practice. I have several Kimber's and love each of them. Hooligan, I believe you would be very happy with the Pro Carry ll...........Al Quote
Goldstar225 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I've carried a variety. S&W L frame .357, Glock 22/23, S&W 642 .38, and a Springfield 1911 in .45 ACP. For the past few months my primary carry has been a Kahr K40 in .40 S&W. Fits my hand like it was make for it and is quite accurate. I still use the 642 as something to "drop in the pocket to go get milk gun". Quote
Aaron Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Currently carry a Ruger SP-101 but am waiting on my holster for my Glock 23 then I will start carrying that. I love the Ruger but I do not shoot it very well. I surprised myself how well I shot the glock after I got it. Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 15, 2011 Super User Posted July 15, 2011 I carry either a Sig Sauer P229R in 9mm, a Ruger SP101 .357 mag, or most usually a CZ75 Compact in 9mm. I have a CZ83 in .380, but it's as big as my CZ75 9mm, holds 12 in the magazine (versus 13 in my CZ75), and has snappier recoil. My CZ75 Compact is very concealable in a Bianchi Black Widow holster and a long shirt. I don't have any real subcompact or pocket guns. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 My link Great gun. It is my favorite for sure. Even my daughters don't have a problem shooting it. I must admit it is a little difficult for someone with a smaller frame to conceal but I manage. Quote
kayl. Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Summer EDC: S&W 442 pro (cut for moonclips! ) Winter EDC: Taurus 740 slim or Sig P245 depending on mood/day Quote
bryand82487 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Just bought the new Diamondback DB9 this weekend. It's the smallest 9mm picket pistol made from what I was told. I haven't shot it yet so I can't tell you much about it. It fits perfect in my front pocket. The decision was between that or the Kahr CM9 (a new cheaper version of the PM9). I chose the diamond back because it was a little bit smaller and that's what I was mainly looking for. It basically looks like a tiny glock and breaks down like one too. Check it out Diamondback DB9 Quote
Gangley Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 For outdoor wear such as walking our property lines and fishing, I usually wear a 1911. For social environments a S&W MPc 9m since its much more concealable and doesnt "print" as bad. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted August 4, 2011 Super User Posted August 4, 2011 CZ PCR PRO-TEK 1 (IMO THE BEST LOOKING OF THE BUNCH AND ITS A CUSTOM SHOP DEAL) P220 Compact SAS Gen 2 or THE P290 SUB-COMPACT 9MM Quote
bassnleo Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Kel-Tec PF9 for me, Summer, Winter, and on my ankle as a back-up while on duty. Inside it I carry Federal Hydrashocks, 124 +p+. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted August 5, 2011 Author Super User Posted August 5, 2011 Kel-Tec PF9 for me, Summer, Winter, and on my ankle as a back-up while on duty. Inside it I carry Federal Hydrashocks, 124 +p+. I shoot the hydra Shok in .40 S&W with a heavy lean to the 180grain bullet. It performs very well out of my gun at 15-20 yards, and carries tremendous energy inside those distances. So much so that it becomes a primary attribute and reason I like it. Quote
bwell Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Conceal carry whats that??? I dont think IL will ever pass that... Quote
ARH4AU Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 One of these usually: a 229 in .357 Sig, a PM-9 w/CTC Laser, or an LCP w/CTC Laser. Which one depends on attire and destination. I will also carry a .40 Browning HP, a Glock G-27, a NAA .22 or others on occasion. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I've carried 1911's and revolvers They are a lot more attractive looking but this is concealed carry so I don't care if its ugly. My favorite carry gun, the one that I never leave home is Glock 27 carried in a Galco king Tut or whatever inside the waist ban holster. Accurate, light and easily concealed. This is the only picture that I have of it and I actually had to draw and use it for self protection on this buck! Long story! Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted October 3, 2011 Super User Posted October 3, 2011 My Ruger SP101 .357 is always on my hip. I never leave home without it. Quote
Jim_M Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I carry a Bulgarian Makarov in 9X18. A simple, serious defensive weapon. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted December 22, 2011 Super User Posted December 22, 2011 My Ruger SP101 .357 is always on my hip. I never leave home without it. I own his bigger brother. That's a .40 cal round for comparison. At 3lbs, a little heavy for CC Quote
38 Super Fan Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 I like my Kimber CDPII Compact for carry, hard to beat the slimness of a 1911 for IWB carry IMO. Quote
boystcroix Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I carry a Kimber Custom compact when a coat or heavier shirt will allow concealment, but most of the time it is a KelTec P3AT. This is the smallest, thinnest most comfortable gun I've found to carry. I carry it in a Desantis holster in my pocket and don't even know its there most of the time. I'm not real thrilled about .380 auto but I use Buffalo Bore 100gr. +P loads for max. potential. Its not a fun gun to shoot , but has been very reliable and fairly accurate. 1 Quote
NCbassmaster4Life Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 P226 is my choice and is in the navy and is used by our elite force, especially using the Horrniday rounds. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 3, 2012 Super User Posted January 3, 2012 I carry a plain jane WW2 made USGI Remington Rand 1911A1 w/ seven rounds of 1943 dated ball ammo, heavy and long, and a bit of a chore to conceal. But it goes boom every time, will knock what ever I hit down, and you can't beat the low profile GI sights/grip saftey when you need to draw the pistol quick, they don't snag or catch on anything.
