Hi all, for bass do you catch more with spinnerbaits or with senkos which one works better in your opinion? For instance, do spinnerbaits because of their blade flash passing by catch the eye of a wandering bass better? I'm having doubts that some bass are not seeing the senko I'm throwing out there very well unless they are actively feeding searching for it. What spinnerbait do you recommend and do they sell one with a weed guard?

TY,

LWD

They will each outfish each other in certain situations.

Neither bait is better than the other every time out.

Most people say use a spinnerbait to find the fish, then throw the plastic.

I usually fish Booyah and Strike King spinnerbaits, but that's just me.

One thing for certain, spinnerbaits are certainly more fun to fish. :D

Never used a senko, but I love spinner baits. I would say strike king and booyah. But terminators are really good also, a bit pricey but they are worth it. Spinners are good for getting bass active when they are not actively feeding.

Two different baits, two different times, two different approaches.

Bass rarely cruise, except brown fish. They tend to be more cover and structure oriented. That's not to say they don't, but more often are stationary ambush critters. I'm guessing they're seeing your Senko, but aren't interested in it. Move, move, move, move. Spinnerbaits may work, as will a plethora of other baits. Jigs, cranks, C rig, worm, the list is endless. You may not be fishing the right color, either.

Sorry, but there's so little info in your post, you sound convinced of your findings already. If you are looking for solutions, be as specific as possible and there are a lot of really good anglers that are more than willing to help.

The two are really hard to compare because they are completely different baits. Spinnerbaits are a better option for covering water, pulling fish out of heavy cover, in dirty water, or when fish are aggressive. Senkos are a better option for getting down into cover, clear water, inactive fish, fishing slowly, cold water, and sight fishing. Each of them have other uses and what I've listed is when they usually work better but it is not always the case. Best thing is to try each and let the fish tell you what they want.

For flash & vibration the New Vibra-Wedge by Stanley Jigs

For using in weeds Rattle Head ;)

I can generally count on the spinners to produce bigger fish - but, the Senkos are best for fishing around and under docks. You can skip the Senkos under the dock for good results.

@hooligan apologies if I couldn't be more specific and provide more info. I am new to this and I don't think I am convinced of myself that's why I asked you all. Still there are many questions for other posts. Have a good one.

No apologies necessary LWD. Unfortunately one or the other or some other type of lure will catch lightning in a bottle on any given day. You just have go through a process of elimnation as to what will work on a given day or hour or location or conditions of the day.

Just learn as many lure and techniques as you can and be a well rounded fisherman.

No apologies needed, really. I didn't mean for that to come across snotty, either. More a stance that the more info you can provide in terms of what you're asking for in terms of conditions and water, the more help you're liable to get.

Cheers-

I like the Terminators as well. I have been using War Eagle recently and I like them as well. The Stanley bait is pretty good too. Can't go wrong with any of these.

Throw the spinnerbait in chopped up or dirty water

Senko in clear calm water.

In each of those situations, the lure listed will catch more

I'm a spinnerbait guy myself, but no how deadly senko's can be. Just don't have the patience. For spinnerbaits there is a bunch of really good brands. War eagle and heavy cover are 2 of my old favorites. Lately I've been a big fan of S.W.A.G spinnerbaits. They have some of the best spinnerbaits on the market at a reasonable price.

Hey I know my last post didn't really help much and I'm sorry for that so heres what I got:

Spinnerbaits are a very versatile bait and have many different variations. You probably need to look around on this website at the articles and the posts on here because I know a bunch of guys have made a lot of good posts about spinnerbaits.

Senkos are a very simple bait on the serface but when it comes down to how to fish it and master it, it gets a little complicated. Again there are many posts and articles dedicated just to senkos so you need to check them out.

Now to how one is better than the other: I can't really say which one is because they are so very different. If the fish are active I'm gonna through a spinnerbait if they are very finnicky I am gonna through out that senko. But again you may catch fish on them during conditions that you would normally not think they would work.

All I can say, to make it all simple I guess, these are 2 baits, if I were you, that you should always carry cause you never know when you'll need them because they do work.

Just experiment with them,

Austin

p.s. Spinnerbait opinion: Terminators and Booyahs all the way. Terminators if you can find them though cause I do not think they make them anymore.
