while swimming at the lake today, my lil boy caught something by it's tail, and it wasn't a tiger hollering to let it go.

to clarify here. this is my son he is 7 years old will be 8 in august. the snake in the picture is our pet red tail boa. she will be 8 in jan. i've had her since birth and she has grown up with my son playing with her. she's very docile and doesn't mind her tail being held like that. we take her swimming out at the lake all of the time. she's pushing 9 feet in length and is over 70 pounds

That's pretty cool.

Does it usually stay by you guys? I can't imagine it knows its name if it wanders.

she will normally go to the land when i let her go. however when there are people there, i never let go of her and if i do the boy is holding her then.

Saw that picture, and my dam jaw was on the floor. That is a pretty neat pet though. Do you keep it in a tank?

SNAKE... GET AWAY I HATE YOU. I would have swam out right away and ran way away... i really don' t like snakes

Snakes are fine for pets, but I would never trust them, especially around kids. There was a small child killed by a pet boa just recently down here in Florida.

I know you raised that snake from a baby, but there is a chance it might swim off someday. The Florida everglades has gained a few resident huge boas and python pet snakes that have actually tried to eat alligators. Please be careful.

Me too. Even a grass snake makes me scream like a little girl.
