Vance Jones Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 while swimming at the lake today, my lil boy caught something by it's tail, and it wasn't a tiger hollering to let it go. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted July 11, 2011 Super User Posted July 11, 2011 What kind of snake is that?!? I would have gotten out quickly...LOL Quote
Red Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Thats crazy, I would also like to know what type of snake that is. Quote
Vance Jones Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 to clarify here. this is my son he is 7 years old will be 8 in august. the snake in the picture is our pet red tail boa. she will be 8 in jan. i've had her since birth and she has grown up with my son playing with her. she's very docile and doesn't mind her tail being held like that. we take her swimming out at the lake all of the time. she's pushing 9 feet in length and is over 70 pounds Quote
OHIO Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 That's pretty cool. Does it usually stay by you guys? I can't imagine it knows its name if it wanders. Quote
Vance Jones Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 she will normally go to the land when i let her go. however when there are people there, i never let go of her and if i do the boy is holding her then. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Saw that picture, and my dam jaw was on the floor. That is a pretty neat pet though. Do you keep it in a tank? Quote

LastCast12 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 SNAKE... GET AWAY I HATE YOU. I would have swam out right away and ran way away... i really don' t like snakes Quote
GLADES Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Snakes are fine for pets, but I would never trust them, especially around kids. There was a small child killed by a pet boa just recently down here in Florida. I know you raised that snake from a baby, but there is a chance it might swim off someday. The Florida everglades has gained a few resident huge boas and python pet snakes that have actually tried to eat alligators. Please be careful. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted July 20, 2011 Super User Posted July 20, 2011 No way in hell....... not even a pet. Snakes give me the heeby jeebies Me too. Even a grass snake makes me scream like a little girl. Quote
