I love to hunt ducks, but the biggest kick for me is calling them into the deeks. I never had a desire to compete in any contest other than out in on the water. Anyone else out there that call ? what calls do you use?

I hunted a lot when I was younger, blew in some hunter classes and won a couple here and there. Mostly blow Carlson Calls. I've got a few hand built calls from across the country, there's a guy up in MN that makes a great call, C&S Custom Calls Mikey Stelzner is his name. Builds one of the best blowing singles out there today. I tried my hand at building some calls, and got fair results. I suppose I made a hundred or so, and had a pretty good knack after bit. It was fun, more than anything else.

I like duck hunting but I've never been any good at calling them. I've only ever had luck with one duck call and it goes something like this "AFLAC!!" Only seems to work on the ducks at the park though and they get mad when you start shooting at those ones. ;)

This one call is the most underutilized and under appreciated calls out there, I use close to 100% of the time in Florida marshes!

i think rnt calls are good but most custom call makers i know make calls that blow every production call out there out of the water

My calling actually sounds like a duck and not whatever it is those competition callers are trying to do. I use the Duck Commander Cutdown, DC Mule, DC Jesse's Duck Picker, DC Green Mile, and the Pintail/Wedgion whistle.

any duck call can sound like a duck. its the method and tone of te caller that give it voice...

Exactly, just like a gun…it’s only as good as the person standing behind it ;)

Not saying the call doesnt sound like a duck, but Ive never heard a duck that sounded like someone in a competition. They call too hard and long.

But I agree that you can take thier call and make it sound good to a duck, just blow it differently.

C&S makes great calls! I have two and working on getting another. his calls are beautiful nice wood, shape and most importantly sound! he is a real stand up guy too, when I ordered my first call I had it engraved well the engraver held onto it for 3 months and mike made it right. he knocked some money off the second call I bought as well as gave me a free hat, hoodie, and t shirt. he was great to work with and again the calls sound great!

I'M AMAZED!

I thought I was one of the few waterfowling addicts around, but you boys are definitely talking turkey.

Most of my fowling days were spent on Brigantine and Barnegat, and though baldpates and pintails were plentiful,

my calling was geared mainly to black ducks, brant, snow geese and Canada geese (OLTS calls, now antiques).

Most of my calling was long-distance, and as soon as they were whiffling on set-wing, I'd Shut Up :)
