lk ozark Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 A friend may sell me one of these Rifles. I say may because he usually doesn't sell any of his guns. Both are modern bolt actions , NIB. Are they adaquit for Missouri deer and is ammo available? Quote
mikesjet Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 both are excellent rounds. the Swede (6.5x55) is the flatter shooting of the two. 140gr has the same density as the 7mm. When handloaded in strong actions, the 6.5 can approach the 6.5x284 in velocity. In case I haven't said they are excellent. Low recoil also. Quote
jdw174 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 The 7x57 is an excellent cartridge with low recoil. Ammo for it may be somewhat easier to find than for the Swede (also a good round). Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 6.5x55is one sweet round. Yes both would work for deer. What models are they? Quote
7mm-08 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Either round would be great for deer. I would go for the rifle that suited me better. Quote
lk ozark Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 A REMINGTON CLASSIC AND A WINCHESTER FEATHER. HE'S STILL HOLDING OFF ON SELLING THEM. Quote

Super User Micro Posted July 15, 2011 Super User Posted July 15, 2011 If I could find a Mauser in 6.5 x 55 Swedish, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. That gun in that caliber is very high on my must-have-before-I-die list. Quote
