This may sound a little lame but do you fish tubes like you would a plastic worm? i never used any tubes and I'm an idiotv with no vocabulary when it comes to them. I have no idea what hooks to use, how to rig for them. I have a much better setup now to fish plastics and would like to give tube baits a try.

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,

Larry

Tubes have been my #1 producer so far this year.I like rigging an insider tube jig.The hook will be exposed. Many bites will come as that bait is spiraling down.So be prepared to reel in that slack and set the hook.

You can also rig it like a Texas rig pegged or unpegged.

I like to sweep the rod to the side, let it sit a few seconds and repeat. It has a darting side to side action.

I also like letting it drift in heavy current.....the current does all the work for you. ;D

Only the fish can tell you how fast they want that bait, some days i fish it slow like a worm other days I'm sweeping it hard.

I highly recommend the Lake Fork Craw Tubes.  It has been my number one producer the last couple years.  It's sort of a mix between a creature bait and a tube.  The action on the fall is subtle but deadly.  Give them a try!

I fish a tube like I fish a jig.  I hop it like a jig.  I fish them with 4/0 Shaw Grigsby HP Hooks by Eagle Claw and use a 5/16oz bullet weight.  I was using Lake Fork Tackle Trophy tubes until they discontinued them.   >:(  Now Im using Prowler tubes in the S'not color.  Its been killer for me.

today was also the first time I have used a tube.i was useing a 3/0 EGW with one of those water grimlen weights with the loop on top I shoved the weight all the way to the top and inserted the hook throught the head of the tube and throught the loop. riged it weedless. I was skipcasting it down the edge of the weed line letting it fall then darting it. they hit it most of the time on the fall! hope that helps.
