BassBeat101 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Ever since I started frequenting the local tackle and BPS a few years ago, I have always noticed these lures, but I have never heard a lot about them - recently, on a couple of the In-Fisherman shows, I've seen them use them - just curious to know if people used them and how effective they are. They almost seem like a pre-chattering chatterbait, without the skirt. Daryl Quote
Super User T-rig Posted February 19, 2007 Super User Posted February 19, 2007 I have tried it but never caught anything. I dont like the quality of the lure. Quote
KYbass1276 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I wouldn't waste your money on it. I had one I bought when they first came out, don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. Used it once and then gave it away. MPO junk and I was stupid enought to buy one. Quote
Bream Master Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I too have never caught anything with them. Quote
vaparrothead Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Concur with all the above comments. Had two different sizes/colors and never caught anything on either of 'em. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 19, 2007 Super User Posted February 19, 2007 I wasted my money too..........not one fish. Falcon Quote
Papa_Tom Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Got one with a BASS re-up a few years ago. Still in the package, probably will stay there. Quote
JigNBig Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 the baits just plain....straight up.....SUCKi dont understand why they would even put those on the market they go right back up to the surface once you start reeling. the only good thing is the spare bodies for then you can use on a spinnerbait. they really work well too Quote
boondocks Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I have honestly never heard a good thing about these baits. Its almost comical. Its also suprising that in-fisherman endorses these lures. But then again Al Lindner could catch bass on a bare hook if he wanted. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 19, 2007 Super User Posted February 19, 2007 This is one bait that has caught a lot more fishermen than fish. It caught me. I bought several. Can't catch a cold with one. Anybody wanna buy a few? Cheers, GK Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 It COULD work, and MIGHT catch fish, but not too well. The hook is surprisingly dull and cheap, and the lure doesnt like to stay underwater unless your using a really slow retrieve. Quote
Curado Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Not really a good bait and I've never had any success on it. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 i havent caught anything on it either and i fished it for a long time Quote
Guest avid Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 ditto for me. It looks like a great bait. Can't catch a cold with it. Classic example of the bait catching the angler. Quote
KYbass1276 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Actually The blade dancer and a bag of crap gulp is the only thing Berkley I have bought and more than likely will be the last. The gulp commercial's are a big load of horse manure. They claim gulp lays a scent trail that bass can follow. Bass can not follow a scent like a dog there sense of smell isn't made to do that. Oh and there claim it out fishes all other baits thats a good one too. Quote
bassboy1 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Got one with a BASS re-up a few years ago. Still in the package, probably will stay there. ditto those exact words. Quote
BassBeat101 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Wow, that's a pretty bad report. I thought I had heard bad things, but nothing like this - usually at least one person defends a lure! I'll just buy some decent buzzbaits. ;D Daryl Quote

Handy Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Well I will defend them just a little bit. I have found that where I live they work well for crappies and I did catch one bass this last fall on one. As for gulp, waste of money! I only carry 2 blade dancers(1 small,1 large) and that is for when I go to my crappie holes. Good thing I have kids(LOL), they get all my stuff that doesn't perform. Paul Quote
Troutfisher Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I bought a package on sale at Wally World and I too will defend them until I really get to try them out. I used them in harsh wintry conditions in a backwater area I fish for bass, and even in the dead of winter, I got a few hits. I plan on going out this week once the ice melts and fishing some more with them, and I'll keep you updated. They may work and may not. Quote
Dukhunt22 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Ok, I'll at least say something good about this bait. Although I haven't caught any fish on it, I work with a guy that swairs by it. I don't know how ya'll are fishing this lure, but fish it like you would a buzzbait and it looks really good. The only time I used it was dead of summer after the fish done went back deep. Chad Quote
Crabcakes Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Well you have 2 maybes and about a dozen "awfuls"..... I also bought one and wasn't impressed so make it a baker's dozen. Quote
CrazedL.IFisherman Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 A little late to the party but i too am added to the unhappy customer badnwagon, i saw these lures used at a fishing seminar when they were first coming out, man did i think they were the next best thing since sliced bread, boy was i wrong and very disappointed with this one, the movement makes me still want to believe they catch monster bass but reality has set in :'( Quote
future pro Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 they could work but i dont want to waste the time fishing them as s...........................l................o...................w as u have to Quote
