If worn replace the pawl. If you don't feel you can take care of it, then have the reel professionally serviced....... Good Luck & Tight Lines! Quote

Good Luck & Tight Lines! It was gummed up. I figured I could take care of it, I just didn't know what to look for specifically. Anytime my reels have a problem I do all the repairs, just hadn't had that problem until this morning. I learn to fix as something breaks. Thank you very much Quote
northern basser Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I had a abu round baitcaster for several years that I put 3 of those pawls in. Dirt and or dust in the worm gear wears it down. Now I have reels covers on all my baitcasters. I was told that one of the worst things is the dust they collect from running down gravel roads. Its very fine grit and sands away at that pawl. Quote
