endless Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 http://www.***.com/Deps_Basirisky_Hard_Belly_Frog/descpage-BHBF.html#multiview Does anyone knows anything or try these frogs before? I only seen them on the river monster episode where he was tossing a black one out when nothing was hitting anything else. They looked neat but pricey are they worth it?? Thanks!! Quote
collegefishing12 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Something tells me "wow, that is way too much to spend." Something else tells me "I have a frog tied on right now that lasted the past 3 years, stop being cheap." I think I should listen to the latter. Anyone got some info on this? I think its an interesting/good concept! Quote
Mattlures Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I have not fished this new hard bellied version but I have used the original. For me it was an ok buzzbait replacelment when it was too weedy to throw a buzzer. I say OK because I wouldnt use it over a buzzer when its not weedy. But it shines in the weeds. It does its thing on a straight retrieve. The action is like the hand sign "hang loose" wobbling across the top. I dont love the bait but I do like it. Quote
Triton21 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I too have fished the old style and worked well untill a mudfish took it away from me. Kelley Quote
lou304 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I also have one of the originals. Apparently the reason they made the hardbelly was to increase hookups by giving the top of the frog a hard base to collapse on. I haven't used it as much as I should seeing how much I spent. I have a thing about trying different frogs all the time. It does have a different action, sort of a side to side wobble like and old Heddon Crazy Crawler.. i do like how soft and pliable the body is compared to some other hollow body frogs I've tried, and it is pretty weedless with just the one hook sticking straight up. Can't hurt to try it if you have the cash, I wish I could find some place local that sells them so I don't have to pay the premium price + shipping. I'd try the hardbelly. Just as an aside, I tried a snag proof Ish's Phat frog yesterday and was pretty happy with the performance. Most of the fish that hit it were smaller and I still had pretty good hookup success. Quote
