kgfisher Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Was wondering what everyone's favorite monofilament lines to use were and why. Quote
jembo Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Was wondering what everyone's favorite monofilament lines to use were and why. Stren Original, because it's what I've always used! Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 8, 2011 Super User Posted July 8, 2011 Trilene XL, Trilene XT, Trilene Big Game. Quote
TimJ Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 trilene XT, but getting away from mono into braid. still feel better with mono on the topwater. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted July 8, 2011 Super User Posted July 8, 2011 Sufix Seige and Sufix Elite. Line size / type pending application. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted July 8, 2011 Super User Posted July 8, 2011 Sufix Siege is great, never tried Elite. The elite is great for open water to light cover cranking and spinnerbaits/chatterbaits. Quote
trevor Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Sufix Elite on my spinning gear, Sufix Siege on baitcasting gear Quote
TerryR Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Trilene XT, all I ever really used and never had a problem with it, so I stick with it. Quote
Super User deep Posted July 9, 2011 Super User Posted July 9, 2011 Sufix Siege of course; 10-12 lb test for casting reels, 6 lb test for spinning. The Sufix Elite is okay, but a bit too stretchy for my liking. Trilene XL is a very distant third. Quote
endless Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Another one for Suffix here! I like Elite for spinning gear. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I use Trilene XT, 17 pound test on my channel cat rig Bait cast rig. Trilene XL in 6, 8, 10, and 12 pound test on various spinning and baitcast reels BUT, I have started to switch to Stren original because it seems to stay supple and not get hard and "coily" as soon as XL here in the desert heat. Super User slonezp Posted July 9, 2011 Super User Posted July 9, 2011 I have 1 baitcaster spooled with Trilene Big Game I believe 14lb test which I use for larger cranks and spinnerbaits. The stretch in the mono halps absorb the impact of the strike and there is less chance of ripping the bait out of the fishes mouth. I used to use Cajun Red but it has alot more memory than Big Game. hookingem Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Suffix Siege is good stuff but I really like Izorline Quote
Bass Junkie Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Personally, I love Trilene XT, preferably in the Clear color. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted July 9, 2011 Super User Posted July 9, 2011 big game and yo zuri here Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Used to be Trilene XL until I used Suffix Seige! Quote
