trevor Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Well, maybe Ardent will go from being so-so this year to competing with other big names. • (DTT) Drag Tracking Technology • 413 Cast Aluminum Frame and Handle Cover • *** ABEC Stainless Steel Ball Bearings • 7075-T6 Aluminum Triple Bearing Spool • Power Carbon Fiber Handle • Carbon / Smoothie double drag system • Helical Aircraft Aluminum Drive Gear • 6-Pin Centrifugal Brake System • 3-Year Warranty • Weight 8.7 oz • Line Retrieve 7.2/28" 6.5/26" • Line Capacity 8-190 10-160 12-130 • Available in Left and Right hand • Gear Ratio: 6.5:1 and 7.2:1 Except they are laughably expensive and very ugly... oh well. Fat-G Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Ardent...what a joke. I would rather spend my money on a Quantum, and we all know that will never happen. 1 Quote

Al Wolbach Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I have several and really like them however, they are expensive. Glad they are making a left hand model...........Al Quote

Super User BASSclary Posted July 10, 2011 Super User Posted July 10, 2011 Ardent reel's are ugly. I don't like ugly reels, so I wont buy ugly reels. Sorry Ardent. make a pretty reel, and we'll talk. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 10, 2011 Super User Posted July 10, 2011 i feel the way about diawa reels. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted July 10, 2011 Super User Posted July 10, 2011 i feel the way about diawa reels. I always thought you were an ok guy. Now I have my doubts! Anyone that doesn't like the looks of a Fuego, Zillion and some of the JDM models is suspect. I will say the looks of my 103HL Type R leaves a lot to be desired. Performance doesn't. Which would you rather have? Don't answer. Both. So would I, but I can put up with 'ugly' if everything else is top notch. As far as the Ardents go, I have no idea of their performance capabilities. So far I've stuck with mainstream reels. Expensive isn't in my budget. Quote

I'm not sure why folks knock these reels so much. I had an XS600 with the 5.1 gear ratio and loved it for cranking...casts a mile. I also thought it was a pretty nice looking reel. Never had a moments trouble out of it. I wouldn't hesitate to own another but I've switched over to Shimano exclusively for now. From what I've seen of the new Shimano I think it's the ugliest reel to come down the pipe in a long while. Black and White? What?! They haven't made a better looking reel than the D series, ever.
