HookSetDon Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 too many choices I guess, i thought the fsr904x imx was my choice at 7'6" hvy mod fast until i noticed it was telescopic, ease of storage isnt a concern for me. sensitivity is however and a telescopic rod vs a true one piece to my understanding has its drawbacks. i then came across the bcfr894 mossy back which is 1" shorter but 1 piece and 25 bucks cheaper. im not fimilar with the materials g loomis uses in their rods or the difference between the imx and mossy back. I need your long time loomis users expertise! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 If storage isnt an issue I would not get a TS rod. I have had 2 and hated them both. They are big, bulky, and very unbalanced. Get the Mossyback. Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 8, 2011 Super User Posted July 8, 2011 When the mossybacks first came out, there was much discussion about them. According to the Loomis press releases at the time, the mossyback is in between the GL3 and IMX. Quote
HookSetDon Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 I couldn't find a straight forward answer searching through the forums or looking online so I decided to give g loomis a call and get to the bottom of it. The customer service lady was very helpful... I explained how I wanted to purchase a flipping stick and have never owned a loomis rod before nor have I planned on spending the kind of money they're worth. My decision was between the mossyback or glx flipping stick. Only 25 bucks between the two, my main concern was sensitivity and the weight of the rod. She went as far as calling someone down in the factory to get to me the right answer.. She found out the imx of course is the more sensitive graphite vs the mossyback blend.. But because its telescopic its a heavier rod and loses its benefit of being imx therefore making the mossyback, a blend of gl2,gl3 and imx in the tip a more sensitive and lighter rod. Quote
