bassmedic46 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I'm thinking of getting either the clip on or wrap around cocoons for over my glasses. I was wondering if any one has any experience with either? Quote
VTFisher Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 my dad used to use them a lot, and he loved them. You gotta some that are good quality though. The cheap ones won't be satisfactory enough. Imo. Quote
bassmedic46 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Did he have the clip ons or the wraparound ones? I was thinking of getting the ones at Bass Pro endorsed by Mike Iaconelli. Quote
mi_basser Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I have the cocoons that fit over your glasses, I absolutely love them, they are a little bigger than I would like appearance wise but the performance of them makes up for the larger profile. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 I have fitovers marketed by Jonathan Paul and they are great. No eye strain or dry eyes from fishing all day. They retail for $49. The gold lens works best for almost all light conditions. They are polarized. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 I have the clip-on of that brand. I did not find the fit-over model that would work with my frame so I got the Fit-Over brand in the amber and gray lenses. The clip-on works OK but not well for sight fishing. For serious site fishing, I use Rx polarized sunglasses with side shields. I can't use the wrap around type frames due to my degree of correction. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 I bought the clipons, and imho, they Suck..for less $$$ I went to wallyworld, and bought the strike king glasses for under 20.00. Granted, I have to switch to my rx glasses to change lures, but at least I don't get that awful glare from the sides and behind me.. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I use Cocoons Aviators that fit over glasses. They are a little large, but are excellent. Mine are tortoise shell frames with copper color lenses. Copper cuts water glare best. Next best is amber. Gray gives truest color perception. Happy fishing ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~ Quote
bassmedic46 Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Thank you, I will check those out. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 I have fished with Fitover brand shades over top of my Rx glasses for many years. Two years ago I bought a new pair of Cocoons to put over top of my glasses because my 10+ year old Fitovers were starting to show some lens scratching. After a couple of months wearing the Cocoons I bought another pair of Fitovers... The lens on the Cocoons were not as clear (visually sharp) as the Fitovers. Your mileage may vary. Quote
