I was just wondering why when everyone talks about the best reel for the money I never see this one brought up! For the price of 159 bucks you just absolutely can't beat it. Ive fished with and felt both this and the Curado and to me the Johnny Morris signature series reel is overall (casting, smooth, drag, power) better. It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other as they are both awesome reels along with the Revo STX. I was just curious on why nobody ever brings up these reels. Just wondering...

Don't know about anybody else but I don't buy anything that has a pro's name attached to it but that's just me. B)

The JM Signature 2 reels are fine reels. They don't compare to the Curado for one primary reason: Longevity. The reel is under a year old and sees a tremendous number of returns and is amongst the highest of warranty service claims. I think that once the kinks are worked out of the Korean facility that produces the reels some of that will go away. Of the 2-3 JM reels I've given a shot I've had to completely break them down and service them in order to get anything close to the casting distance of my Shimano reels; at that I still get an additional 20-30 feet from my other reels. One thing I do like my JM reels for is moving baits. I fish a couple on square bill rods and that's where they excel.

ahh okay that could be why then...I havent had that problem with mine yet. "knock on wood please"...But that would be the reason why then. Like I said I dont think you can go wrong with any of the reels mentioned above I was just curious as to why anytime I ever see a list of reels, I rarely see the Johnny Morris on there. With my personal experiences and what I've heard I thought they were very comparable.

I own two of them and like them very much..but then again, I don't have the money to purchase other reels just to see what is better or not. I weekly conduct a basic cleaning and lube maintenance and every 4 months a major cleaning and lube to include the gears.

I have 2 JM reels and like them very much. I've been bass fishing for 45 years and have tried so many different reels I can't name them all. For the price range these reel are as good as you can get.

I bought a JM spinning reel last year, it lasted only a week before I returned it and purchased something else.
