Chaz Hickcox Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 So I got an Abu Veritas Rod around the end of May, and it broke during normal usage, no abuse (third time out). So Abu was awesome about sending me a new one through their warranty. Well I got the replacement in on Thursday and the top six inches was broken off. I have a claim through Fed Ex, and called Abu about it. Well their customer service is actually pretty good. I have a replacement in the mail, due here between Friday and Monday sometime. That's even without the Fed Ex claim completed. I probably won't buy another Veritas, but I will say I'm going to keep up with Abu Reels. Their stuff is pretty good. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Agreed...the Veritas are light, but I have personally broken one setting the hook on a 2lb fish. But, there customer service is great, I just wish their rods where also. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 6, 2011 Super User Posted July 6, 2011 I abuse the hell out of mine some clear coat is cracked off that's the only damage I set it on some rocks today and by set I mean I droped it from waist high to just fire out a shot quick with a diffrent pole. I cram it in a little 4 door lumina with 7 other poles gets banged off trees and the bank went left on the canoe while my nephew is paddling or "steering" and its still like new I inspect it every outing just because iv heard bout them breaking but mines still good I love it Quote
j.bruno Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Man ive heard some horror stories on the Veritas. The Vendettas felt better to me at BPS. I catch 4lbers on my 6 9 Medium Light and its still in one peice anyways. lol Quote

SausageFingers Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I had a similiar experience with the Veritas. I had them replace it with a Vendetta. I feel much more confident with the Vendetta, especially when Im swinging one into the boat. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 The light weight and sensitivity we appreciate in modern rods comes at a price, which is a level of brittleness. It can be surprising how little it can take to compromise a blank. Care should be taken to not do anything with a rod that will load the tip beyond 90* to the blank. As bass fisherman and tournament anglers, we are hard on equipment. Often harder than we really need to be. ABU may or may not have manufacturing issues with the Veritas, but in general we need our practices to evolve along with the products we use. Quote
