Thinking about trying my hand at custom rod building and was wondering if any of you had any experience with the 2 day classes offered by Mud Hole? Looks like a pretty nice way to start learning, they have classes in various regions throughout the year; included in the $149 fee is a kit for a 6' 6" MF spinning rod. You've made your first rod by the end of the second day.

Have any of you attended one of these? What did you think?

I haven't attended any of there seminars but deal with them regularly. The staff is very good and I'm sure you'd be pleased. Having someone to guide you through the first one is a real treat.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am in the same boat as Delaware and have confidence that you will not be disappointed by Mudhole. Another source of info is to go onto the Rodbuilding.org forum and ask there. It is a forum totally devoted to rodmaking, so the likelihood of finding a person with experience in the classes will be higher. http://www.rodbuilding.org/list.php?2
