Eternal Angler Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 This year I caught my biggest smallmouth bass ever, ended up weighing around 4 pounds, 8 ounces. I knew when it jumped out of the water it was a big bass. I was just excited to get it on video and land it! Tried to get some quick footage of weighing it and get her back in the water so she can grow bigger. The lure I caught it on was a Bomber Deep Long A crankbait on the Gold Prism/Black Back/Orange Belly color. Truth be told, I seem to always pick up bigger fish on the bigger lures. Yeah you might not catch as much, but if you're looking for that big one, go with a bigger crankbait. Throughout the whole summer been hitting the bass hard on Berkley Flicker Shad too, great crankbait as well. Here's my video of the big bass Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted July 3, 2011 Super User Posted July 3, 2011 Congrats on your new pb. Nice smallie. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Very nice smallmouth!! I've caught a bunch this year between 3-4 but nothing over 4. I think largemouth have ruined me because it seems that I'm out of touch with the bigger smallies. Quote
Mr. Swabby(aka westtennessee1) Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Great video and awesome fish! What were you trolling with to land that toad? I've caught a few smallies with storm hot-n-tots while trolling for walleyes in the west basin of Lake Erie... Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 14, 2011 Super User Posted July 14, 2011 This is why I ALWAYS chat up the walleye trollers at the launch. Nice job. Quote
