I bought like 3 of these lures because y'all raved about this lure and it does look really good, my only question and its not a big concern because they are so cheap is, do they break easily due to the fact the lure is very small and has a small thin wire, curious to hear your opinions guys, Thanks Jon

no, they are pretty durable. i dont use them as much as soft plastics, but i did catch that 3 pounder on one<<<<. im not a big fan of spinner baits, but i kinda like the beetle spins. black with yellow stripes is good, orange or lime green with black stripes is also pretty good.

Agreed I don't think they would hold up for anything bigger than a 2 or 3 pounder, but they are good numbers baits.  I've always wished they'd make one about 4 inches or so with heavy gauge hooks and wire.  Another couple of good numbers baits (but for smaller fish) would be Little George's and H & H spinners.  They are all cheap and good fish-catchers.

Ok, no one is going to believe me, but here I go

I was on college break and decided to go visit my older brother, Roman, who at the time lived on Lake Wellingtion (a residential lake west of palm beach Florida).  About a month earlier, my other older brother, Leonard, gave him an ultra light outfit to use.  Anyway everyday after work Roman would come home and make some cast in his backyard around a sunken Christmas tree and catch bluegill, tilipia, and small bass.  Well the day I came to visit him I asked where Roman was and his wife said he was in the back fishing.  Well as luck would have it Roman heard me talking to his wife and he started yelling for me to come back quickly he had a monster on.  So I ran out the sliding glass door to find Roman backed up against his house reeling his little ultra light reel frantically as the dragged hummed.  I quickly ran down to the bank about 10 yards away and couldn't believe my eyes.  Roman had a huge bass on, I was so excited that I jumped in the shallow water and lipped the tired hawg immediately.  Guess what the monster bass was caught ont?  You guessed it a BEETLE SPIN.  The bass weighed a bit over 10lbs! I figured the only reason he was able to get him in was because his drag was set so light the hook did not bend and I was there to help him land it.  He ended up skin mounting the fish and to this day it still has the small little 1/16 oz. beetle spin dangling out of his mouth. So although I don't recommend using beetle spins exclusively as a bass lures, they do catch big fish, but more little ones.

I can't be the only one here old enough to remember when the Beetle Spin came in some larger sizes. On the larger ones the profile was not too much different than the Scorpion, the Colorado blade was smaller tho. About all that was available in off the shelf product back then in small towns.  Used to buy them in Mr. Bechle's (sp) hardware store in Bonne Terre and fish smallies in the Big River.

I remember buying one years ago that had about a 3.5" body that was orange with a brown and yellow scale pattern on the top and it had a willow leaf blade as opposed to the colorado.  I can still remember the gray card with the Bass Buster logo on the lower corner.

God put the bettle spin on this earth so men could eat. and it has made me a lot of money over the years when I am fishing tournaments and just needed that one more fish and nothing else will work.
