lynyrdsky1 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 C-Rig, spoons, 3/4 oz spinnerbait. Right on the money. Carolina rig you'll probably need 3/4 to a 1 ounce wieght. Spinnerbait I would slowly, slowly crank it. Almost jig it in a way. What this will do is keep the blades spinning a little bit but will allow it to get down there where you need it. Quote

Dead on with the 3/4 to 1 oz.weight. I fish NorthStar football jigs in them weights. Also a T-rig. The drop shot is a killer too in deep water.Don;t forget BIG worms like a 15in.Netbait C-Mac DEADLY! ripinthem Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 ??? I've used DS/tubes/crank/jigging pretty extensively, looking to expand my arsenal. I have no clue, mostly concentrate on those 1-2 ft bass. My equipment probably couldn't handle them if they were any bigger. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 30, 2011 Super User Posted June 30, 2011 The majority of my fishing is done at those depths & my #1 technique is a Texas Rig with a ¼ oz weight. Quote
backwater4 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Silver buddies and jigging spoons, go vertical. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted June 30, 2011 Super User Posted June 30, 2011 Like Catt, I tend to fish offshore structure and cover in 20+ feet of water and fish mostly jigs, TX rigs, and a couple other things. Swimbaits being a huge "other" at this time of year. Quote
tholmes Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 15-30 ft. bass?? Something really, really big. sorry, I just couldn't leave it alone. Tom Quote
Gangley Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Texas Rigged Plastics, Drop Shot, Spoons, Jigs, Carolina Rig. When fishing deep, that is all that I have fished with successfully. Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Take a 1 oz double willow spinnerbait, pull of the skirt, and put on a 5.5 LFT Live Magic Shad. It can be killer in those depths and it will catch some hawgs... Quote

I also use the 3.5" LFT Live Magic Shad rigged the same way on a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait. Tom Quote

detroit1 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I bought a 1 oz. Hot Spot last month just for this purpose. Casts a mile, sinks fast, lotsa racket, easy to fish deep, good size (about 4"), but only spent about 15 minutes throwing it. So, the jury is still out and i need more time with it, but i think it's going to get me a big ol' bass or pike sometime soon. P.S.- you can hear those rattles 40 yards away for crying out loud! I may have to buy another and silence it, just in case. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Why take the skirt off? Why not just use the swim bait as a trailer? I have fished both ways, with and without skirt. IMO, taking the skirt off frees up the swimbait to move more freely and I think that it looks more natural. I have caught fish with the skirt on, but seem to catch more without it. Quote
Brandon Underwood Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'm pretty sure I seen Bill Dance talking about using a Heddon Sonar the other day on VS fishing deep for bass, and it looks to me like it could be a killer lure. Not sure, I can't speak from experience, but perhaps it's something to look at? Quote
