Hey folks, a week or so ago I began receiving mail without any attachments. It's not isolated to just one sender. Any attachment from anyone is lost.

I'm running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 and Windows Mail, version 6.0.6000.16386. My antivirus software is Avast, version 6.0.1125.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Does you Anti-Virus have an email scrubber option which can remove certain types of high risk attachments?

Windows Mail I am assuming you mean "hotmail"? correct?

Check the settings on hotmail to see if you have an email size limit...but since you said "all attachments" I am going to assume even a 1 KB txt file will get removed.

If you want hit me up with a PM we can do a remote session when I am here at the office to take a look at it.

Brian, yes, my AV software does have an email scrubber, but it is set up to warn me before it takes any action.

Grundle, no my email program is called Windows Mail. It's not hotmail. Also, with all due respect, I am not about to allow a person I don't know to access my computer remotely.

With all do respect I do this for a living and you sit at your computer whilst on the phone with me and you watch my every move....I am fortunate enough that my company uses GoToAssist for our clients when we need to issue support.

Also, I know you use windows mail but what I meant was "...@hotmail.com" for example or "...@live.com". Windows Live Mail allows the ability to use different email accounts with that program, i.e. gmail, verizon, comcast, hotmail etc....Windows Live Mail is just an email program and not the account in which your email address is located it.

Anyway, I am glad you got it sorted out and as I have said many times before (and some people have taken me up on it) I have no problem giving anyone on this forum computer support/help when needed, my way of giving back I guess.

Grundle, it's not sorted out. The program is Windows Mail not Windows Live Mail if that makes any difference. My account is ...@att.net. Hope this helps.

Mike - I suggest you take him up on the offer. He's legit.

Grundle, if Glenn says you are legit, then you are very much OK with me. I'll send you a PM this evening with my phone number and email address. And, thanks for your kind offer.

I've got a glich with my livemail. It's just like outlook express which worked perfectly for years and years. My email add is comcast.net, but prefer opening it with express now windows live. I get a error message saying that I'm unable so send mail thru windows live, however I have no problem in sending mail, works fine. I just want to get rid of that warning screen. The people at comcast don't understand windows live and say they only address outlook express issues, even though they are pretty much the same. I think it may be a port selection problem, but as I saw it works fine.
