i'm looking to buy a buzzjet but i can't decide on the size. i fish in Rhode Island so the bass aren't huge. just wondering if one has better action or if the bigger size will get me ley6y yss strikes in my region vs the 3". i always struggle with lure size. thanks for any help.

Update: lure just can in. Its a monster! Bigger than I expected. I almost feel like it will scare the bass here lol. Ill try it out and let you guys know how. I make out.

I only fish the 96 or four inch size. I have seen bass barely 6 INCHES eat this bait. I would stick with the big one. I also switch the hooks with owner stinger 41 number 1 size hooks. Luckily I havn't lost one yet since the switch.

From what I have read from other websites people are saying to stick with the 4". I just got my first 4" in Jet Black last week. I fished it slow this weekend and its action is like a wake bait with a buzzbait sound to it. I usually fish a black buzzbait or jitterbug at night. What I like the most about this bait over those 2 is you can chunk this thing a mile and cover more area. What I dislike about this bait is worrying about nailing a neighbors dock at 1am and waking them up.

I own both baits and if you can only have one, pick the 4" as they are easier to work IMO. Both baits have their place, but the most frequently used for me is the 4" in either Black or Baby Bass.

What methods are working best for you guys on the 4"? I only had a chance for a few minutes in the daylight to play around with it. Other than that I have just done a slow and steady retrieve with an occasional pause at night. Its one loud lure thats for sure. I think the hooks need to be replaced on these when you get one in. One of my hooks bent on a fish no bigger then 2.5.

I like a slow and steady retreive, but the key for me is to pause for a few seconds and give it a couple quick twitches, pause, the start back the retrieve. Most of the time I get hit when I am twitching it.

I love the 4". I hate that I donate one annually to the Muskie Gods, but I love the bait.

Cast past your target (for me this is usually over or past a log) slow and steady retrieve, then kill it over the spot you think holds bass, pause a few seconds, then back to the slow and steady retrieve.

I agree, I've been blasted many times on the pause. And when youre waking it slowly, slow down even more. I move mine so slow it barely even makes a wake. This is what I do at night time anyways. I tend to sweep hard to the side as well when setting the hook on these.
