Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 29, 2011 Super User Posted June 29, 2011 +1 for Gene Simmons Whew, for a moment I thought you meant Richard Simmons. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 1, 2011 Super User Posted July 1, 2011 Hmm... I prefer men of character, family and purpose... King George, Tim McGraw, Toby and Keith Urban come to mind among the current stars. Quote
JoePhish Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Bon Scott......pre Feb. 19th 1980 for obvious reasons. Think about it, if it's post 2/19/80 then you would know what it's like to be dead for a year. That's something not many people experience and live to talk about. I think if I had to be one musician for a year it would be Derek Trucks. First of all, he may be the best guitarist of this generation. Undoubtedly he is the best slide guitarist since Duane Allman. I imagine he hears music differently than I, so I'd like to experience that. Besides that he gets to play in a number of different bands. He plays with the Allman Brothers, The Derek Trucks Band as well as The Tedeschi - Trucks Band which is with his lovely but not super model wife, Susan Tedeschi. The new album Revelator is amazing. He also was one of the supporting guitarists for Clapton when I saw EC in '06. More importantly, this guy seems at peace with himself and everything around him despite the fact that he is a guitar god. Quote
JoePhish Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Did you read his book? I didn't, but my buddy told me Ozzy did things that disgusted motley crue and they think Ozzy is the baddest. I saw Ozzy in 1982 when he was touring for his 2nd solo album, Diary of a Madman. My lasting memory of that show was that he hung a midget during "Goodbye to Romance". I've been to hundreds of shows since then and have yet to see a crowd as crazy. The attitude of the audience often reflects the attitude of the artist. Some people decided they wanted to hang signs written on bed sheets on the railings. Others decided they wanted to set them on fire. Counted at least 3 fires but they never stopped the show. Quote
FL_Sharpshooter Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Boy George!!...just kidding. Dave Mustaine \m/ \m/ Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'd have to say Jon Bon Jovi himself. He has what he needs and doesn't seem to be all screwed up with the drugs and stupid antics. He could probably have whomever he wants but he is quite happy with his wife Dorthea for many many years. I'm no huge music fan but the guy seems like a class act. I don't know that for sure but just from what I've read & listened to here and there. Just to be able to sing as well as he does would be enough. Quote
FordNFishinLover Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Dont think i would enjoy a year, but an old time rocker from back in the day like Jimmy Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughn would be great for awhile. Otherwise i agree, someone like jack johnson, DMB, or kings of leon would be great. Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted July 15, 2011 Super User Posted July 15, 2011 Hmm..live the life of a rock star? Being on the road for countless mind rotting hours, days, and probably months. Maybe have meaningless "relations" with some gal you don't even know and will likely never see again. Get stoned. Wake up feeling like crap-if I wake up at all. Is this what you mean? I think I'll pass. Quote
zero limit Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 What ever musician dated Marylin Monroe. She died before I was even born, BUT......... YA.! Quote
TimJ Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Rather, it doesn't have to be like that. Think of someone on top of the game...I don't like U2 or Bono much but this guy writes his own ticket. They are a band who tours the world at their own speed, not the breakneck 200 shows in 230 days kind of thing. Lots of time to enjoy life while "working". Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 17, 2011 Super User Posted July 17, 2011 Mick Jagger, but I probably wouldn't remember it Quote
TimJ Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I mentioned Bono but after thinking about it, Ted Nugent would be a great example. All the hype of a rock star, a guitar wizard, beautiful wife and family on the ranch...and PLENTY of time made for fishing and hunting, world-wide. all the good stuff without the hangovers! Quote
BassThumb Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Nobody wants to be Keith Richards? For me, it would be one of the guys from Daft Punk. They're living it up. Quote
BIGfryFish Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 It would definitely would be the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar!! Play a few shows at the Cabo Wabo Cantina, Las Vegas, and other venues. Relax with some Tequila. All the while I tell EVH to GTH!!! Quote
