Rapala

I'm just starting fishing and I have used a few rapalas.  I have an original rapala topwater and I like it but I was wondering what other lures would be good for me.  I don't have a rod yet but I may get one tonight or tomorrow.  The lake I fish in does not have very large bass so big bait may not be the best thing but I'm not too sure.  I fish in an area that is about 10 to 15 feet deep but when I get more comfortable there is one area of the lake that is really deep and goes at least 40 feet where there is an underwater cave.  I'm not ready for what fish may be there but I'm wanting to know what good lures woukld work for me.  I love the rapala type lures and that's what I would like to stick with.  Could ya'll recommend me some good lures for what I want to do.

The original Floating Rapala is an excellent lure!

Get a Zara Puppy, black on silver; XCalibur Xr50,

Chrome Blue/ Orange and a Terminator Spinnerbait,

white with silver willow blades.

All of these hardbaits are proven  winners. When you

are ready for soft plastics, you will need a bag of 5"

Senko and a bag of Fat Ika plus some Gamakatsu 4/0

EWG Offset Worm Hooks.

This is all you really need to get started catching some bass.

Thanks for the help.  I searched them and what do spinnerbaits do.  Which baits sink a little bit more as I have a topwater right now.

Get a rapala shad DT 6,10 or 12 in firetiger, perch or silver if you want something that will go a bit deeper for a hard bait.  DT = Dive To, 6,10 and 12 are ft.  That would be my recommendation anyhow the DT10 is one of my favorite lures.

Thanks I'll try looking for othat one.  Do ya'll know a good hardbait that works well in milfoil.  The lake has a lot of milfoil on the edges where I have seen several bass in but I can't get to them because my lure gets stuck.

the jointed rapala (black and silver) floating....( i think they only make'em in floater?)... has been one of my all time best producing lure's...probably had well over 100 fish on the same one over the years.....but never anything substantial...

highly recommend this one!

Thanks ya'll for the responses.  Ya'll are awesome.  I feel like I'm asking stupid questions.  I'm using hard baits because I don't know how to tie them on and my gf's dad doesn't like the soft plastics very much.  They use the hardbaits because they are easier.

I've been using the Silver Rapala X-Rap lately... I've been getting really good results. Fish strike at it like crazy! It's $7 and you can get it at wally world. I have the silver one.

Rapalas are great. I nail bass on the floating, jointed, x - raps, shad raps, husky jerks, fat raps, skitterpops, skitterwalks, skitterprops, and just abou all of them.

For crankbaits in bass fishing the #4 and #6 dives to would work for you, as would #5 and #7 shad raps and fat raps. X - raps and husky jerks are best in size 8 and 10 for bass.
