Yo Zuri Hybrid Sink Or Float

Quick question for you guys? I know Yo Zuri Hybrid is a co-polymer line. Does it float or sink? Also is UltraSoft any different in regards to floating or sinking? Thanks

Hybrid and Ultra Soft both "float". They are not buoyant like a cork,

but they "float" due to surface tension. The analogy is a bug walking

on water. Once the line is "covered" by water it becomes neutral and

neither sinks nor floats. From a fishing standpoint, there is no effect

on baits or lures.

I can tell you this, it is harder to walk the dog with a chug bug with Hybrid because the line always seems to be underwater. Im pretty sure it slowly sinks.

So with it floating and not necessarily sinking, would this line be better for senko'ing since you will be able to see the line on top of the water? Or not really have any effect at all? The reason i ask is because i just bought some, Hybrid Line Green 275yd 12lb. I'm not sure if i should of bought clear or green, just went with green because of the color of the main water i fish is green.

Hybrid floats, but not as high as some floating lines do. With some lines, every inch of it stays above water, even the coils. Try clipping a three inch strand of Hybrid and tossing it in the water on a very calm day. It floats.

Would this line be good for topwater and walking the dog? Trying to find something I don't have to tie on a mono leader. 

 

Do people use straight braid to topwaters? I'm not a fan and I'm convinced that fish see and react to the line. Thanks.

You have resurrected an ancient post! This thread was expertly answered by @roadwarrior back in 2011.  But the answer to your question is yes, copolymers are good for topwater IMHO. 

 

I use 12lb Yo-Zuri hybrid on my topwater rod and I walk a Zara Spook nearly every single time I fish.  It's one of only a couple high-confidence techniques for me.  I love the Zaras and have great success with them on the Yo-Zuri Hybrid.  I use a Tatula SV which is fantastic for throwing light lures and I use KVD Line and Lure on the Yo-Zuri.  Never a birdsnest throwing even my old-school Rapala floating minnows.  

 

As far as braid goes I found "walking the dog" to be more difficult with braid.  Yo-Zuri Hybrid isn't as stretchy as mono but it has more give than braid.  I like it with a medium/moderate rod for walking a Zara Spook.  Others may prefer something else.
