Imx Vs Champion

Looking at getting a new all around rod, some jigs, Texas rigged worms, spinner-baits. Most likely bottom contact baits 1/4-3/4oz with the 3/4oz being spinnerbaits.

Mainly looking at the 734c for the dobyns and the 844c for the IMX. I like the extra 3" on the dobyns and the fact I can get either split or full handle grip. Also it seems as if the champion series has far more rod selections available at semi cheaper prices.

I haven't heard much about G. Loomis lately, but dobyns rods seem to be standing out a bit more.

If anyone has fished one or the other or both it would be great to see some comparisons between the two rods.

I have Dobyns in both Savvy and DX and Loomis in both IMX and GLX. I will tell you I think my Loomis are better rods in ever way. The DX is a little faster but if you want a GREAT extra fast bottom contact rod you must get a Loomis BCR. My favorite rod of all times is my BCR803C.

I'm not familiar with the Dobyns rods but Loomis has been around alot longer and has a proven track record. They do not get hyped up like the "latest and greatest" rods. Most rods on the market now are compared to Loomis. The IMX is one of the best rods money can buy. If your looking for a slightly longer rod then the 844 Look at the BCR line. I see alot of these pop up used.

I have owned both. I old my Loomi rod for all Dobyns. I also sold all of my Kistler rods. Dobyns is all I fish now...And no I am not sponsered by them! You wont find a more balance rod or better customer relations. just my opinion.

I'm seriously giving thought to switching to strictly Champion Extreme rods.

I love tbe way they balance and fish. I wish I was sponsored by them!

The Dobyns is fine if you are looking for spit grip. I own the Champion 683C

which I consider an excellent "all-around" rod, especially matched up with a

CH50MG!

On the otherhand, the G. Loomis IMX MBR844C is THE STANDARD by which all

other rods are measured. This is the rod that established the brand and remains

the very best all-around rod you can own at it's pricing point. Mine is saddled

with a CTE200GT. I also own the MBR844C GLX version, MBR842C, BCR854,

BCR893, PR844S and PR844C.

Hmm...I guess I'm a Loomis fan!

I haven't fished a Loomis, but I can get them half price brand new. A GLX for $190? Sounds good to me, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Maybe I should. I just worry that they might be tip-heavy.

The champion is a nice rod no doubt, but it isn't as good as a imx IMO.

I have had a MBR 844C imx ever since they first came out. I have used it for big pike & lake trout as well as a bass rod. A very versatile stick and will handle 1 oz & larger baits with ease. Its probably the best all around rod I have ever owned for jigs, spinner baits, swim baits & jerk baits.

Not tip heavy at all, they are lighter then the Dobyns so if you wanted to you could add a little weight to the butt to make it more like a Dobyns. Now if you don't want that GLX for $190 I will take it times 3.
