Fat-G Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I really hate fishing cranks, but those are BAR NONE the best for the money IMO. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I have broken off the lips to every H2O crank I have ever used. I will stick with Bomber, LC, Strike King, and Bandit for all my crankin needs. Quote

Really I have banged my against rocks and concrete and never broke one.I almost only use H20 crankbaits and have no complaints. This thread was just to give people who like H20 baits a heads up on the deal. If you don't like them please refrain from commenting here. Capt.O 1 Quote
weedsnager1 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 the one's on sale for $1.88 have been out of stock for a while now Quote
PondBoss Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 That is a great deal, on the first page alone I see colors I'd use and catch fish with. To bad I stocked up the other day on plastics. Thanks for getting the word out. Quote

Capt.O BS on that. The poster had a contrary opinion to yours. Just as you are free to shill for a company, somebody else is just as free to say the bait isn't worth it. And I happen to agree with Bass_Fanatic, these baits are not all that great. I would recommend everyone steer clear of the H2Os and buy a couple of the KVD1.5s or RC1.5s. 2 Quote

Capt.O Not trying to bash your product, just sharing my experience with them. Earlier this year I bought 8 H2O cranks to give em a whirl because they looked good in the box. I think I may have caught 2 fish off of them before I had broken the lips on all of em. Seems like every rock or tree I hit would break off the bill. One even broke on a fish. For $1.88, they are cheap so everyone can go ahead and try em' for yourself, but I've tried em and they just didnt hold up. BTW, I have only broken the lips off of a few other cranks in my entire life, so it wasn't "user error". Quote

Yikes,I've only used 4 of the 30 something cranks I do have...I haven't experience anything like you did yet.No problems here. I'm not a big crankbait user either...So it's gonna be awhile before I even use up what I have. You would rarely see me tie on a crankbait for some odd reason. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 21, 2011 Super User Posted June 21, 2011 FYI: Any time you see the price of anything at Academy end in “.88” it means that product is being discontinued. Quote
Captin Obvious Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Ok guys what I am trying to say is that there is a time and place to voice your opinion about these baits. This wasn't a "Hey what about H20 baits" thread it was a simple "Hey this is on sale" thread. I know a lot of guys like these baits so that is why I posted it. BS on that. The poster had a contrary opinion to yours. Just as you are free to shill for a company, somebody else is just as free to say the bait isn't worth it. I not saying this because I disagree with you, Academy is not sponsoring me and I'm not on their marketing team. I'm just saying that this thread isn't the place to give your opinion on these baits. There are hundreds of products discussed on this forum. And I guaranteed that you can find at least 5 members for every product who don't like it or had problems with it. If someone was asking about these baits then by all means share your experiences with them.I respect everyone's opinion and I'm sure that you guys are only posting your knowledge to help other members. But nobody was looking for help here so what is the point? Capt.O Quote
Blue Streak Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I bought some of these on e Bay a few years back and I did ok with them, the river smallmouth seemed to be found of the square bill baits. I never had any issues with them, they run straight and I have not had the broken bill problem and I am hard on crank baits. I would say they are as good as Strike King or Bandit and the other lower priced baits. No connection here just my honest opinion. Quote
weedsnager1 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 But nobody was looking for help here so what is the point? because that's what people do on message boards!!!! this is what a message board is all about...people giving their opinions!! do you think if you posted something about ford trucks being on sale , that there wouldn't be a guy who drives a chevy that makes a comment? 2 Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 21, 2011 Super User Posted June 21, 2011 Friend of mine gave me a couple to use. First glance they looked like L.C. I think they're O.K and for $1.88, they are great. If I hang one up and can't get it free, I'd rather it cost $1.88 than $15.88. Only problem I have had with lips breaking off on any cranks is when I cast up onto the rocks. Duh!! Lips, Eyes come off, hooks break. Even on "more expensive" baits. Never a problem just bumping off stuff. Still have about 200 KVD 1.5 and 2.5 I got at BPS spring classic I don't know what to do with. These baits rock! Everyone has their opinion. That's what this forum is all about. Just try to keep it at a civil discussion, not an argument. 1 Quote

I understand that is what the message board is about. As I posted before If someone was asking about these baits then by all means share your experiences with them.I respect everyone's opinion and I'm sure that you guys are only posting your knowledge to help other members. What I meant about people "not looking here" was that they would not be looking at this thread directly to learn about these baits. I was simple trying to avoid turning this thread into a place where members debate about the quality of certain brands.Instead it looks like I have turned it into a debate over the right to free posting. As I have posted before this thread was just started to give the members who might be interested in H20 baits a heads up on the sale. I was not telling members who do not like the baits that their opinion was not wanted or that it was BS. I was just pointing out that negatives views on this bait added nothing to the thread. I thought that the only people who would be interested in the sale where those who liked the baits so they would be the ones looking at this thread. If you don't like the baits why would you even click on a thread about a sale? Capt.O Quote

Capt.O You posted to save people some money on a bait that I and bass_fanatic consider less than great. In the same spirit as your saving money theme, we proposed saving even more money by not buying the bait altogether. If you look at it from that perspective we're on the same page. But really, like weedsnagger said, message boards are to share info, not just the info you like, but all info. 1 Quote
Mike 12345 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Thats a great price on some good crankbaits. They are constantly adding to, and taking from, their line of colors, etc. so they do have baits that go on clearance from time to time. That said, brand new they are only between $3 and $5 most of the time, but you can't beat the sale price if you can find some colors you're interested in. I'd suggest picking a couple up and giving them an honest try, if you don't already have experience with them. I like them a lot, and more importantly, the fish on my lake like them a lot. I've caught more fish in TN cranking H20 baits than any other, with Strike King coming in a distant second. No quality issues to report either. Give them a shot if you haven't already! Quote
