lucasbass25 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I just finished lunch. heading back out to try to catch some bass. no luck yet. what is the best bait (lure) to throw in wind. its a constent 15 gusting to 20 or more. need some help to try to salvage the rest of the day. help! Quote
Shad_Master Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Try throwing a chatter bait on the wind-blown points -- couldn't hurt Quote
Mottfia Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 The wind will generally make the fish more aggressive. Wind blow banks can be good if they continuously get hit for hours and ever better for days. Lure wise I would suggest a horizontal bait cause the fish will be more in a chasing mood. Mottfia Quote
airborne_angler Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I was using a 3 inch dropshot the other(very windy) day and tore the fish up. Now, they were very small fish(except the Bluegill, they were a nice size) but I got strikes like crazy. The bait was 12-18 inches off the bottom and every species in the lake was hitting the bait!! Suppose if I had used a larger bait I might not have caught as many fish, but im sure they wouldve been larger. Quote
adclem Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Spinner bait for sure. But a swig jig will also be very effective as well. Later, Quote
