dulouz Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I was looking at the BPS Prowler 30lb thrust trolling motors for my 12' aluminum v boat. I want to know if they are any good, or should I spend the extra $15 and get the Minn Kota Endura? I am trying to keep my costs down as much as I can... Quote

You do mean the one for the back right?Grant it I do like my Prowler(40lb) it's vibrate loud on full thrust. I'm not sure of the 30lb but mine is 3 blade which I like but it doesn't help going through weeds. I still have to paddle out of thick lilies. I had mine for going over 2 years and still no problems yet beside the vibration which I probably just some adjusting that I have looked at yet. I forget. I did have to return my 50lb prowler foot control back but it was more likely my fault not using a 50amp breaker. I didn't use anything and must burnt it out. Do they still have the 40lb for $129? or 50lb prowler on sale? What I do like on the Prowler is the one year instore warranty. Minn Kota has 2 years from what I know but I just like to be able return and replace if need right then with then the year. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 19, 2011 Super User Posted June 19, 2011 Aren't those prowlers just a relabeled Motor Guide? I remember hearing that somewhere, but I don't remember who told me. Quote
dulouz Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 I ended up getting the 50lb Prowler that was on sale for $159. That was the most power I could afford. Quote
endless Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Still a good deal. You saved yourself $40 from the full price. Did you buy the extended warranty too? I think it will give you another year. So two full years. I can't remember if the extended is just a year or maybe 2. If I'm not mistaken if not gotten it yet, you have 30 days to do so. I know my 40lb Prowler still kicking strong beside the the things I mentioned in my earlier post and I had it over 2 years. Only thing I had to fix was one of the connection O-ring and the nut to the prop. Some how lost the one that came with it. Also if not have one yet make sure you have an extra battery. Quote
R520dvx Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I have A NIB Prowler 30 that I would make someone an awesome deal on Quote
dulouz Posted June 25, 2011 Author Posted June 25, 2011 I got out and tried my new motor yesterday, and man that 50lb makes wake on my little boat even with my wife and two kids. I know it is big for my 12' but I can use it on a bigger boat later on. Quote
endless Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 More power quicker destination is how I feel. Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 30, 2011 Super User Posted June 30, 2011 Bought a Prowler 50 lb. last year and took it out on my john boat in the slop. Stalled instantly with clogged prop. Went back to Bass pro and shelled out $40.00 for a machete prop which was actually worse. Returned both for an Endura from MK and haven't looked back. IMO Minn Kotas are built more solidly and definitely a whole lot more weedless. Quote
