Yum F2 Ferocity Crawfish Attractant Review

Luckily, I spent no money on it and I hope I can keep others from wasting theirs. It is quite possibly the worst attractant I've ever tried. It has no adhesive or penetrating qualities whatsoever. I left a new bag of brush hogs soaking in it for a week straight, adding a little each day to keep it "fresh". After the week was up I took them out and lightly rinsed them off. Nothing. They smell just like they did last week before applying the F2.

The new Yum F2 plastics that have the stuff mixed in during the pouring process will probably work just fine but the spray is lame. I love their senkos (dingers) and didn't see anything wrong with the scent they had a year or two ago. Now it smells like coffee.

I'm not the authority on all things scent related but I spend alot of time playing with different ones and I can tell you this....buy two bags of worms, a couple of Bandit cranks, some hooks, ink cartridges for your printer...WHATEVER! Just don't waste $10 on this junk.

Over the years I have never thought that any of the spray on attractants I've used ever helped any.

Sprays are just gimmicks you spray a liquid on a lure and put in in the water to immediately wash it off trying to catch a species that hunts almost completely by vision and sound.

I got some of the Gulp! spray to put on my homemade jigs because the skirts put off a plastic smell at first. That spray has a strong crawdad smell and if it doesn't make a difference then I just spray it on at the perfect time. I can think of a couple times off the top of my head that the fish seemed to ignore our baits until we sprayed them with Gulp! and started catching fish. I've never been a big fan of spray scent but if that stuff doesn't help it sure doesn't hurt anything!

I saw the Yum f2 spray on an end cap at Dick's and it made me think of the three bottles of other stuff like that I have laying around in my garage.

Scent vs. taste.

I would rather use MegaStrike so the bait will "taste" a little better to the bass then a "scent" that is oil based and the bass cannot smell it as the oil molecules are too big for the bass to smell.

The goal is to have the bass hold onto the bait a few seconds longer so we can set the hook.

As for Gulp!, use it if you want to catch catfish.

I occasionally use the YUM craw scent. It washes off within a few casts, but mentally it makes me feel like my scent is off the bait and that my suntan lotion won't linger on the lure. Now if it is a harder bait or a bait without a skirt, i just megastrike that puppy up. Still not a believer of megastrike on skirts and the clumps. I was told earlier on this site to pull every individual strand out but that was not working too well. Just not worth the effort. Bottom line, i like the YUM and it gets my scent off. That is all i care about.

I don't believe it gets your scent off. I'm not kidding, I barely ran any water over them and that stuff was gone. Not even a greasy film was left. By the time you make a cast and the lure hits the water, I'd be surprised if any is left when the lure is six inches underwater. Sometimes that's all that's needed...

Please don't take my opinion personally. Like others have said, I think all spray attractants are bogus. Unless you let them soak long enough to penetrate the plastic (if it will) it washes right off. Gulp crawfish is one that will penetrate. I played with it this week to. After being washed off you can still smell it a little, probably enough to cover human scent.

i bought a pack of yum f2 dingers, i love the dingers i'm now going to buy them instead of senkos because IMO they do the same exact movements for less. but the attractant they have on when they are made seemed to come off after a couple cast. i still caught 20+ bass on my dingers today anyway. i dont really believe in any of those attractants.

Are you at least rubbing the spray in? Mine lasts for a good 10 to 20 minutes or so. The yum crawfish scent, just spray it on, mix it in pretty good and off it goes. I think the bottom line for me with it is i can't smell anything out of the ordinary which gives me more confidence with it; the rest of the logistics don't seem to bother me. And yes i know fish can smell better than i do but it helps my mental game as well.

Bass are sight-feeders.

Until bass grow barbels like a catfish, I remain disinterested in ANY fish attractant.

As stated earlier, I literally soaked them. They were completely sub-merged for an entire week. Also, getting a fresh 3 or 4 squirts in the bag every day and mixed up so that every single appendage was equally covered.

FishingkidPA- I'm with you kid. I prefer the Dingers over GYCB. They are cheaper, softer, and I've never had a situation where the Dingers didn't catch as many fish. Not sure why the attractant would be wearing off because it "should" be added in the mixture before pouring/injection whatever but I could be wrong.

maybe it was just me but im not to worried anyway, as long as i can get the bait to them. I am definitely buying dingers now over GYCB. they do the same exact thing! i think they also have a slower fall rate which i like.

Lol...you're pretty sharp kid. That's the biggest reason I like them better, the slower fall rate that is. It seems to me that you can hold a little tighter line on the Dinger without messing up it's fluttering action on the fall.

Flip your spinnerbaits upside down, then put a clump of megastrike on the base of the hook where it meets the lead. It will be embedded underneath the inner skirt and won't hinder the wavy motion of the outer skirt. I also find it to be a sort of tasty center of a tootsie roll pop for the bass when they nail the spinnerbait or buzzbait, or chatterbait, or jig, or etc... Works for me. When I apply megastrike to the e2 jigs I do almost the same thing, but I squirt it into the crevasse between the pendulum head and the bait keeper.
