SDoolittle Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I found a sporting goods store that has Yo Zuri Hybrid and P-Line CXX on clearance for 50% off. All that's left is Camo Green (Yo Zuri) and Moss Green (P-Line). I'd like to buy a bunch of it for that price, but I don't know about the green line. If I was back in Oklahoma, I wouldn't hesitate, but most of the water I fish out here is pretty clear. What do you think? Would colored line be a problem in clear water? Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted June 15, 2011 Super User Posted June 15, 2011 Don't think so. Most of my lakes are crystal clear and I fish Yo-Zuri green with no problems. You can't beat 50% off - go for it! Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 if you do end up thinking its a problem you could always add a clear leader Quote
BobP Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Don't know about the Yo Zuri but the P-line is a light green that IMO fishes well in slightly stained water. It's worth noting that Berkley now sells its premium fluoro in a light green tint version. Quote
LP-Fishman Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I fish green Pline with all my flouro set ups in crystal clear waters and have never caught any less fish then my partner who fishes clear. Go for it! Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted June 16, 2011 Super User Posted June 16, 2011 I am currently using both of those lines. I like the green, esp the PLine moss green. I don't think you'll have any trouble in clear water. I don't. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2011 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2011 I've caught plenty of fish out of very clear water on mist green P-line, doesn't seem to bother them at all! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted June 16, 2011 Super User Posted June 16, 2011 I use yo zuri,P-line cxx and trilene XT...all in green color. Some reason I prefer Green line over any other color.I don't seem to have any problems in clear water either.Green seems to blend in better if you asked me. Quote
SDoolittle Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 Thanks for your input, everyone. I guess I'm going to stock up. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 16, 2011 Super User Posted June 16, 2011 I use Yozuri in mist green in both fresh, and saltwater. Good results in both.. Quote
BassThumb Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I personally think that green Hybrid is harder to see in clear water than clear Hybrid. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted June 16, 2011 Super User Posted June 16, 2011 Steve, if I were you, I'd buy one spool first, and give a good on the water test before stocking up. In all the years I've been fishing, I've gotten maybe a dozen spools of really bad line. That's very good by the way. I'm almost 60, and started fishing before I started school. Anyway, every spool of bad line I bought was bought on sale. I'm not saying every spool of clearanced line is going to be bad. Just that every bad spool I've ever had was on clearance. Not trying to whiz in your cheerios buddy. Just passing along my experience. Quote
SDoolittle Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 You're probably right, Gary. When I went back, I noticed that they also have several spools of Stren Magnaflex on clearance. Magnaflex used to be my favorite mono, but I haven't seen it anywhere for at least four or five years. It makes me wonder how old the other stuff is. Anyway, I bought one spool of the Yo Zuri and one of the P-Line. If it works out, great. If not, I'm only out $9 for both spools. Quote
