I am planning on adding a floor to my new aluminum boat and need some suggestions. I have a general idea of what to do, but I am looking for tips to make it go easier. I was thinking of some sort of foam under a board covered in carpet. What type of foam/styrofoam, and where to get it? Treated wood or not, and how thick? How to attatch everything together?

Thanks.

Closed cell rigid styrofoam with aluminum on top.

No pressure treated wood should touch the boat hull.

Attach it to the hull bracing with stainless steel or aluminum screws-pay attention to the screw length. Actually you don't have to attach it at all, unless you turn the boat upside down when storing.

Aluminum will bump the price up, I built a deck with wood laying around the house. It simply set in so it was fully removable. 2x4s ran bow to stern and screwed plywood onto that. Only had the platform between the two front seats. Deck was only 3" above the seats so stability was fine. I cut out some compartments in the sides for tackle storage.

Although all the wood added a lot of weight, weight was not an issue for me, I never needed to motor to far, and with a 52# trolling motor it really moved this thing.

I never got around to adding carpet but I am sure that wouldn't be too difficult.
