MikeOGNR, there are big fish in most lakes in southern NH. The guys in the southern NH thread have caught many 5+ lb fish. check the pages in that thread for some locations. Your information says you fish winni, check out some of the local tournaments online you will see multiple 5-7 lb fish both small mouth and large mouth. A fish in this range is a good fish but IMO not a fish you would mount. Go down to Florida or other states, on some guided trips and get a nice double digit bass and then mount it. Just think if you take it out of the lake and mount it, that fish will never be able to be caught by another person or grow bigger. This is just my opinion and different strokes for different folks. Good luck and let us know how you do!

Replica mount is the way to go. A bunch of pics, some measurements and you have a beautiful mount and fish that's still swimming. Most any decent bass fishery in NH will have some 5 pound largemouth kicking around. Fish a place that suits your fishing style well and pound it if you really want a big fish.

Please don't kill a 5lb fish for your wall. Replica mounts are better anyway. Take very clear close up pics of your fish, and take them with measurements of length and girth to a reputable taxidermist, and you will be just as happy with the results. Catch and kill gets no love from me, sorry.

I had a plan to mount a 5 pounder but i didnt n0 about thi9s replica mount how is this done and is it fairly new?

For replicas they usually charge by the inch of the fish you are replicating. $8.00 per inch is around average, so $160-$200 for a 5 pounder would be my general approximation depending on where you got it done. Replicas wont fade and deteriorate as quickly as regular mounts too, so it will still look good 20 years from now. If you search bass replica mounts on google there are tons of options. Hope that helps you out.

Don't kill the big bass just to hang on your wall and brag about. If you have to , get a replica made. Replica's have been around for years.
