daiwa junkie Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I believe i read somewhere that the new curado, chronarch will be made in malaysia. Some say its the same factory as the one in japan, just different location. just curious to see if anyone out there thinks the quality will suffer. Im sure price will come down, as its cheaper to assemble there, but a new better cheaper chronarch or curado sounds far fetched Quote
0119 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Im not sure if being made in Malaysia has much to do with it. My CI4's are made in Malaysia and have handled very big saltwater fish smoothly. I have had issues with the eva grips coming off their spindles, but this year Ive had issues with everything I have thats Shimano. Cant get parts for Curado D's anymore. Cant get parts for CI4's yet. But Ive learned other brands arent the answer either. Maybe I'll just give up conventional fishing for fly fishing. Quote
hookingem Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 It is all Rumor nothing has been confirmed, here is a post by Bantam1 on TackleTour "I just laugh because you guys know nothing about the new products and are already assuming...because someone "heard from a reliable source". Hearsay doesn't hold up in court for the record. You guys can continue to assume and wait until July when I post all the facts. Until then my lips are sealed." Quote
Mr QuEST Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I will wait for the official word from Bantam, but all of these rumors do make for good reading. Quote
BassThumb Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Far fetched indeed. Even if they are made in Malaysia, I doubt the price will drop. Quote
0119 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 The speculation is the Curado becomes the new Citica in the line and the Chronarch becomes the Curado. Makes sense in a way since the Chronarch and the Core were price wise so close. Surely the Chronarch has suffered in popularity from the Core. Some Dicks stores here in Fl. have the Stradic marked down to $100 so perhaps a new Stradic is coming out to. Quote
daiwa junkie Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 All i want is the chronarch to be around 5.5 ounces, super smooth, good drag and under $250. But in reality, i hope whatever comes out is worth putting in my lineup. The rumors are fun. Gotta give tackle junkies something to do. I feel a little better now knowing the stradic is made, in malaysia, as people swear by them. I saw a pic of what was supposed to be the new chronarch,, and if it was a real pic, of the actual new chronarch, and not a decoy pic, it doesnt look like it can be too light, or as light as i want anyway. krisjack69 Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I dont really care I wont be able to afford the things when they come anyways. Quote
BassThumb Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 This will be a good opportunity for those that like the E Series Curados and Citicas to stock up during the sales. Wait until the new ones are released, then the prices will really drop. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I spoke to my local tackle dealer today. Factory in Malaysia ? Yes. Close out of up to 7 reel types ? Yes. Lower prices on new cosmetically changed reels? NO. Retails expected to increase ? Oh yes. Reps asking for retailers to mark down current stocks with incentives? Yes. Hearsay generally is not admissable in a criminal action but is in a civil action. Hearsay carries less weight than first party statements. Quote
