I'm seriously thinking about putting together a mini Road Trip to Lake Falcon in late 2011 or early 2012. Lake Falcon has earned the reputation of producing the largest bass in the U.S.of A.. Double-digits are frequent. It's located on the Mexico border near Zapata, TX. How many of you are SERIOUSLY interested?

I live 50-300 yds from Falcon Lake, depending on the lake level at the time. This is my full time home and we fish nearly every day. Love this place!

ME! :D

I'm in--assuming dates are workable.

Sounds like it would be a great trip!!

I am seriously interested. I never know about my work schedule, but if it works out and the cost isn't too bad - I would for sure try to go!

I guess I will be the first to ask, is it safe?

Otey, yes it's safe, provided you stay well inside the US of A border, which is well marked. Helen B, you live on the lake, what is your opinion?

And provided you don't fish with Mike.

I'd be interested but need to see cost and particulars about fishing such as boats, etc.

Big-O -

Can I fish a day with you?

We'll finish our flippin class.

I've always wanted to get to Falcon, and I can't think of a better group of guys to go there with. Mike, I think if you might be able to come up with a few possible dates would help me figure out if it is in the realm of possibilities. Great idea Mike!

Hey guys, just to be crystal clear, this is NOT the official annual RoadTrip. Details for next year's event are still being worked out. So be sure you have enough vacation time and budget to attend both, if that is your intention.

Ive been looking for a good excuse to go to Falcon, but its unlikely I will be able to make it :( . If I had some dates and cost I could see what I could do. Its a long shot, but I may be able to swing it...

I want to reiterate what Glenn posted. This is NOT a Bass Resource Road Trip. If you do not have the funds or vacation time to make both the Falcon and the official Road Trip, then by all means make the Road Trip!!

Does that mean if I leave the War Dept @ home for next year's road trip that I could afford to go to both?

When should I tell her that you're calling to suggest this?

War Dept.?

Pretty brave when she's not around. Does she have access to the site?

Remember, she left me her email address.

Have never known anyone from this area running into any problems, probably because we all know that as long as we stay on the U.S. side, there is no problem. lake is down some because of the drought, but there are plenty of fish to be had. In my humble opinion, less water = more fish per square foot! Seriously folks, only time we ever hear of any trouble is on the news - we are the last to know and we are right here lakeside! The women here hold reuglar fishing tournaments just to show the guys if they can fish safely, anyone can. Feel free to contact me if you need local resources, including weblinks.

Edit to my post:

Here are a couple of links to get you some info. We are not affiliated with these, just find that these two are a good place to start for info. :

So you're going to email her with that suggestion? Wow you are the brave one! :D

No, I'm sure that if I can go to next year's road trip that she will be coming along again. With all that she's been putting up with with Mom's issues since we got home from the last one, she will need the escape. Heck, maybe I should send her to Falcon and I'll stay home.

Sounds like I have a new client with 20 years worth of returns to do!

There's a simply reply to that one.

Regarding the time frame, we are trying to work around Big-O's schedule. We want him to be able to join us. Right now, it's up in the air.

Love this lake!! If time and $$$$ works out, I'm in. Haven't been there in a year and a half and am ready to go back. If it's in the fall, winter or early spring I'm in. Did I mention...........................I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long Mike,

What is the latest on the 'mini road trip' to Falcon?

Of course I am seriously interested but would also appreciate as much advance notice as feasible regarding possible dates.

Thanks.
