We've cooled down, today. Yesterday was 107, the previous four days have all been triple digits. Couple that with humidity in the 50-65% range and it's been nasty. One day was a heat index of something like 123. It's a positively glorious 91 with 45% humidity now.

A cool & balmy 93 here with 1000% humitidy...

Thank god for A/C but I did run 5 miles yesterday in the heat. I was delirious when I finished.

Working in a kitchen sucks. That's all I really have to say about that.

Word. I did that in school and had to wear the whole chef uniform thing, ON TOP of all my winter clothes because there was no dressing room. Talk about hot, lol.

It's been miserable in MN, with state record dewpoints and heat indexes.

----

"Moorhead: Hottest, Most Humid Spot ON EARTH Tuesday Evening. The coolwx.com site shows global extremes from hour to hour. Tuesday evening, around the dinner hour, the dew point at Moorhead reached 87.8 F, making this the most humid reporting station on the planet. The heat index peaked at an almost incomprehensible 134 F. at Moorhead."

"97 F. degree high in the Twin Cities yesterday.

119 F: heat index yesterday at MSP (temp of 95, dew point of 82), tying the all-time heat index record (119 in 1966).

82 dew point at MSP Tuesday (on the hour at MSP International Airport). That's a new record for the Twin Cities.

84 dew point (unofficial, reported at 3:21 and 3:27 pm). The MN Climate Office will determine if 84 is the new MSP record.

88 dew point at Moorhead yesterday, setting a new all-time Minnesota state record for the highest dew point on record.

134 F. heat index at Moorhead yesterday, setting a new record for the hottet heat index ever recorded in Minnesota"

You didn't have a bathroom or anything?

By the time it would take 15 kids to each go in and change, before , and after class would leave absolutely zero time to actually cook something, lol

I like my central air

fd0c8fa5.jpg

I like when your central air breaks down. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!

On Wednesday I pull up to the house after work about 8pm with my work van.(I normally park in a storage yard because the HOA rules). Only a few of my neighbors know I'm a hvac/r mechanic. You'd have thought I was driving the Good Humor truck. My neighbor across the street who I'll call "Mr. Can you do me a favor?" runs up to me before I can even get out of my truck. "I think my compressor is bad. I poured water on it and it started to smoke" He needed a condenser motor. "Do you have one on your truck?"

"No"

"I have someone coming out in the morning to look at it"

"Good for you"

I then go fix my next door neighbors a/c(They had asked me the prior day)They still haven't come over to say thanks or offer me a couple bucks. It's now about 9pm and I'm in my driveway welding something for a buddy of mine and some guy comes up to me.

"Are you working here or do you live here?"

"I live here"

"You're the guy with the boat"

"Yeah"

"Nice boat"

"Let me guess, your a/c isn't working."

...and so on.

The following day it's 110 heat index and when I get home Mr.Can you do me a favor? rings my bell.

"They fixed my a/c but he said my thermostat was bad and wanted 80 bucks to put in a new one."

"Yeah"

"I bought a thermostat. If I give you 40 bucks can you put it in? It's about time I paid you for something LOL"

...and if I don't get a thank you from my next door neighbor their a/c will mysteriously break down.

So be nice to your hvac guys.

Nothing but 100's and 90's in the forecast for the next 10 days. Come on October!

When it gets real hot, like high 90s and triple digits, I just think back to how much it sucks when there is snow on the ground.

It's supposed to get to about 83 degrees here today, with only a slight breeze, and about 15% humidity ;)

We more or less skipped right past Spring, but at least we are having some beautiful Spring weather now :)

Oh, and the best part of all > I'll be on the water in a couple hours, enjoying this beautiful weather to the fullest !!! :)

Peace,

fish

Beating a dead horse to death with complaints of the heat. Myself and many of the oldtimers grew up with no a/c at home, school, work and our cars, we survived just fine and it was plenty hot then. I think it was a big plus not having 24 hour news and weather( had only 3 channels), I never knew the temperature, just did my thing.
