Fishing4SquidDuck Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 im going fishing on the Shenandoah for the weekend gonna be kayaking. haven't smallmouth fishing so was hoping i could get some advice. what should i throw. and has anyone had some luck on it lately? Quote
Kayakist Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I was on the South Fork of the Shenandoah near Front Royal last Saturday. 3-4" curl tail grubs, white or chartreuse, are cocaine to smallies. Chartreuse was the better last week. Spinnerbaits in same colors are also good. Caught 20 with three in the 16" range. Enjoy. Quote
tboydva Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Watermelon double tail hula grubs (or pumpkin) can be deadly as well as weightless senkos. The doah has suffered in the past 10-15 years. There are still fish to catch, but the numbers were unbelievable in the early 80's and 90's. Quote
River_angler Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Definitely stock up on some grubs and bring some topwater with you, pop-r's and torpedoes. Quote
Fishing4SquidDuck Posted June 10, 2011 Author Posted June 10, 2011 sounds good. thanks for the help. looking forward to catching some smallies and getting some god pictures ill post them after the trip. gonna be a great time. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 There's a thread going in the Southeast forum about the Shenandoah river as well. Letting you know in case you want to check that. Quote
dhami013 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Water level was perfect this weekend and so was the weather except for today it rained a majority of the day. We nailed quantity and quality fish. Both Large Mouth and Small Mouth. Even some cats at night. We'll be hitting the river again in a month or so. Great time was had by all. Quote
