BassAssassin85 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I bought my buddys boat for cheap and it has a 87 mercury 150 xr2. I know to replace brand new is around 1200 looking for the cheaper alternative obviously. if anyone has any knowledge how much the rebuild will cost please let me know. Quote

TennesseeShad Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Depends on whether or not you take it off yourself. I have an 87 Mariner 150. When mine went out I took it off and took it to a local Electric motor shop. He rebuilt it for 75 dollars and I had it back in about a week. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Correct me if Im wrong, but the trim MOTOR shouldnt cost that much. I bought mine for a 200hp Mariner a few months ago for $270. The entire trim system may be $1200, but just the motor should be much cheaper. Quote

You are right the motor part of the system is the cheapest part of it and can be repaired for less than 100 bucks in most electric motor shops. The last overhaul kit I got for my friends boat was just under 200 bucks for the rest of the system. Quote
