polywog Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I have a Shimano Curado and a 6.5' rod. Would like to know what type of line would allow me to cast the lightest lures ? Also, what is the lightest weight should I be able to cast ? Any help is appreciated. Ron Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 7, 2011 Super User Posted June 7, 2011 what action is the rod I have a cheap quantium tennacy ap combo that's a 66m rod with 12lb trilen xt and I can throw some UL lures and weightless plastics a pretty good distance Quote
Super User islandbass Posted June 7, 2011 Super User Posted June 7, 2011 Take a look at the line ratings on the rod. That should give you a basic idea. Generally speaking, the thinner the line's diameter, the farther casts should go. Then look at the rod's weight range. This range is what your rod should toss well. Any heavier or light and casting and performance might suffer. Quote
guitarkid Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 The best beginners line, is BPS excel mono. Spray with some KVD line and Lure and good to go. Hard to beat 3240 yards of 14 lb test for $24.99. -gk Quote
