What is the difference between a texas and carolina rig? Is there any other popular rigs besides these?

Big difference.

The guys will tell you more as I am at the office and am leaving.

Texas rig:

Bullet sinker

Carolina rig:

Oval sinker

Glass bead

Swivel

Leader

Florida rig:

Florida sinker ( bullet sinker + spring to screw in the bait )

Split shot rig:

Split shot attached to the main line

Shakeyhead rig:

Shakey jighead

Jihgead rig

Jighead

Shakey & jighead are similar, the main difference is the hook size, shakey head have a larger hook than regular jighead

They are all different ways of hooking the lure and presenting it. For instance, you can Texas Rig a Senko weightless - you insert the hook in the nose of the lure, turn it over and insert the point back into the body of the lure - then you can bury the hook, skin hook it or even leave it exposed. In addition to the articles you might want to do a youtube search for each of the rigs listed above - sometimes seeing makes understanding easier.
