Just Got Two Northstar Swim Jigs

I just got two Northstar Swim Jigs in the 1/4th size and I would like to know what size is best for a trailer for the jigs.I have the new gill color and the Perch color.So what color,size and kind would be best suited for these.I will be fishing in a pond.I caught two bass today with these.Wouldn't catchem with my ocho so I got my rod that is suited for carolina rigs and slow rolling spinnerbaits and started throwing the northstar hiddenweight spinnerbait in perch color and caught two bass with a couple of minutes.One fish was deformed like a turtle or bird got ahold of em or something or there is to many bass in the pond.Chris has said to put a pair em with a curly grub or a paca type trailer but I just wanna now which ones out there would be best suited for them.Thanks.

3" paddle tail swimbaits have been becoming more popular as trailers for me. Got some Keitech Impact 3"ers from Monster that are very active. The new swimming fluke jr has been doing well too.

I'd want something that would put out vibration the paddle tail is a good choice.Zoom has a ultravibe U tail speed worm that I have been using as a trailer and it works pretty darn well.Good luck.

I would fish a 3 in. to a 5 in. grub or a twin tail grub.Or a Netbait Paca chunk, ribbon tail worms ( Cut down to size ).Paddel tail worm just about anything,just try and match the jig to the trailer it dosn't have to be perfect!

I like 3 to 5 inch single tail grubs, have had some luck with double tail grubs but not enough to convince me to fish them exclusively. I know everyone has their own preferences so it is going to come down to you and what you are confident with. Everyone has given great suggestions and any of them would work.

Zoom U-vibe speed worm or craw. Rage Tail chunks or baby craw.

I like the Rage Tail Thumper 7" cut down a little, and with the tail cut at the line that is molded into it. I also use Lake Fork Hyper Worms, or for a small or lightweight swimjig, the Big Bite/X-Factor Sugar Cane worms.

Dichoso Custom Baits 2.4 and 3.0 Paddle Klaw Kouras have been killer for me this year. Their twin tail grub works really well on swim jigs, about the same size as a GY 5in. twin tail but the tails have more of a curl and more action. Tailor made colors are nice to.

The paca chunks have been excellent for me this season when paired up with the Northstar swim jigs.

I tried the swim jigs 1/4th oz swim jig today around some lily pads today and didnt get anything.Not one nibble.I fished it for about an hour tho.I guess u have use it the whole time to get bit I dont know but they bit my spinnerbaits even bent one or two of em.I tried my best to fish one of em but it has a wobble hopefully the fish will still eat the thing although I hadnt had a nibble on it since.They were pretty aggressive today it seems they really wanted that spinnerbait. I only caught one or two off of it and one bass bent the thing.I was holding the bait by the line eye and the part going facing the hook was pointing straight up.Tried to fix it best I can but it has that wobble.Anyways these spinnerbaits are great.Maybe someone here can give me pointers in bending my spinnerbaits with my needle nose pliers.

Just like every other lure, swim jigs have their time and place. The swim jig bite has really calmed down for me as, so I have switched to other techniques.

During the summer months I tend to not throw swim jigs all that much, but when I do it is in the morning when they are out roaming for an easy meal. Make sure you have one tied on at all times when fall comes around.

Oh OK.No wonder I didn't get any bites.We are already in a summer pattern right now since we are having summer like heat in the upper 90 to 100's degrees and under a drought.Northstar 1/4 oz spinnerbait was working to when I wasn't picking the grass with it.

I guide at night and I fish the swim jig all summer. Deep weedlines or just swim them over deep rocks,docks,ect.It is a big part of my summer fishing,they are not just good in the spring but summer wright up to fall turn over and then I fish a all white swim jig. When fishing a swim jig in deep water just go to a bigger swim jig!

Oh ok.I dont fish in big lakes or anything since I find it pointless since I dont have a boat but I do fish in a couple of neighborhood ponds that I go to.I dont know how deep it is can't tell.Its probably around waste deep I would imagine.I would wade in there and see but there are snakes since I saw one yester about 4 to 6 long didn get a good look at since I went the other way real quick like.
