Dixon Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Anybody a fan of these? I have been checking them out on *** and they look pretty good. Tru Tungsten seem to be very expensive. Are they worth it? Quote
SDoolittle Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I used the plain lead bullet weights for years and years and caught plenty of fish. It wasn't until eight or nine years ago that I started using colored weights. I really don't think my catch rate has improved, but now that's all I use. Tungsten is expensive, but it's worth it! The sensetivity is incredible. Quote
bigfish88 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 tungsten is great, so sensitive. i don't think color matters at all. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 10, 2009 Super User Posted June 10, 2009 I have the brown, black and purple weights..can't say that they work any better than the regular bullet weights...but..they look good..lol Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I use the plain black lead weights for almost every style of fishing i do! I only use Tungsten for flippin because of the size reduction, not sensitivity! I find Tungsten no more sensitive than lead! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 You can not beat tungsten, given enough practice I have learned to identify bottom content due to the sensitivity. This has provided more success in catch rate for me. The same can be said for lead but IMHO tungsten increases sensitivity. I found no differance in color. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 11, 2009 Super User Posted June 11, 2009 I am definitely a BIG fan of colored weights...they look cool! However, the fish don't care at all, promise. 8-) Quote

If you fish uglysticks and canepoles you probably can't tell the difference. But believe me, use some quality graphite and the difference between lead and tungsten is night and day. Quote
bigtimfish Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I use grn pumpkin and also black. I use parasite weights though, not tungsten. I just can't see paying $6 for 1 weight. Im a cheap mo fo. Quote
ikefan Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 i agree 100% that it depends on your setup. good graphite is so sensitive. that being said..i use dark colored brass weights and love them...especially with a bead. black seems to make a difference for me over the natural lead color. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 For some reason last year there was a run on the lead colored 1/8 oz bullet worm weights at the stores I frequent. I purchased some black ones and couldn't buy a bite. Switched back to the lead colored ones and seemed to do better with them. This year, ran out of the lead colored ones again but the black caught some fish. I think it's a confidence thing with me though. Quote

So i guess the Loomis, Powell, Falcon and Shimano rods i use are not quality graphite! Think before you make ridiculous, uneducated comments!!!! Quote
FishDontLikeMe1301600221 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 dont make a difference to me at all...with a "right rod with graphite" lol,i dont think the fish care either, its like sitting at a bar and thinking if she has real ones or fake ones.....in the end...does it really matter??? ....NOPE ;D ;D ;D Quote
