Well I went smallmouth fishing today. The wind was horrible, a steady 20-25mph with gust close to 30mph. Maid it very difficult to fish. Caught one decent smallie with a 1.5 crank and then I caught a few 1 1/2 - 2 pound smallies on a spinnerbait. I spotted a few beds but they mostly held small males. I tied a tube on and started fishing the outer edges of the spawning grounds to see if I could catch the bigger fish. This paid off very well as I started boating a three pound average. It was very hard fishing the tube effectively due to the high winds. I put a heavier jig head on and that seem to help a little.

I believe that I really would of nailed them today if I could of fished slower, but the weather wouldn't let me. I had a five fish total of a little over sixteen pounds and my biggest was 3lbs 07oz. I usually do better on this lake but then again the weather is usually better. It was still a great day, and I did catch a 17 inch brown trout that I forgot to take a picture of.

Speaking of Brown trout my Aunt and her friend went fishing last week and they shared my Aunt's fishing rod. They were fishing from the bank using an ultra light rod and 2lbs test line. This is what my Aunts friend caught!! 7lbs 06oz 26" Brown trout!

Nice job with the tubes dude. It was blowin' a gale up here to today - Really brutal

when it like that fishing from the Old Town.

And that's a heck of a brown trout too - when you see pictures in the kitchen you know the fillet knife is close by and then some good eating !

Ya, and I'm taking leave from 10th to 16th of this month and I plan on fishing every day! As if I don't go enough already! :D Thinking about trying a new lake and camping out on it. It's suppose to have good smallmouth fishing and its called Nicatous lake. I really don't want to have to pound my boat and trailor over 25 miles of dirt road one way to get to it though :o

I will also fish the heck out of my local lakes too just because of gas prices, It will be fun either way. Just pure fun fishing before the tournament season starts up again. ;)

Man that should be a great trip if you end up doing it! If the lake's got smallies in it I know you'll find the pattern and snap us a few pics of some beautiful fish!

That looks like it's only a little further northeast of Dow Pines/Great Pond, where I took my dog's a week or so ago and tried my luck from shore to no avail. Doesn't seem to far from me, maybe I'll try it out sometime to up my pb smallie from like 1 lb
