Seafoam?

Has anyone tried to use Seafoam engine cleaner on their outboard? I know a bunch of folks who have tried it on their car engines, but was wondering n these newer outboards has anyone tried it?

I've been using it for about 10 years in all my small engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke). I use it all the time and it takes care of carbon, ethenol problems, and is a preserver.

I've been using it also. When I first started in the boat I own now after the first tank of gas I noticed alot of performance increase in the motor.

If you search the site for Seafoam there are MANY old posts on this product. Suffice to say that you would be wise to purchase Seafoam, StarTron, or marine Stabil and add it to your fuel.

StarTron and Seafoam are excellent for both stabilizing and cleaning your carbs etc.

Look for the best deals out there as I have seen it for 6.99 up to 10.99 per can

I was a diehard user of Seafoam until 2 seperate mechanics told me about Techron (made by Chevron). According to them, Seafoam has some Techron in it. The Techron costs more, but you need to use less and it REALLY works well.

I mix 1 oz per gallon. Follow the directions on the can.................Al

is there any downfall to over mixing seafoam? like putting 2 bottles in for 20 gallons?

I never thought of following the directions... :)If I had read the label on my motor I would have saved half a days worth or searching the internet trying to find the right gas/oil ratio.

I looked at the mfg. advertizement for Techron and it doesn't mention it deals with ethenol moisture problems or is a storage treatment like Seafoam is. I looks like it does all the other stuff that Seafoam does.

Does that mean if you use Techron you have to add something else to take care of all of it?

Good tip. It's been like that for years. Even Walmart is way more expensive.
