.Paxamus. Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Has anyone tried to use Seafoam engine cleaner on their outboard? I know a bunch of folks who have tried it on their car engines, but was wondering n these newer outboards has anyone tried it? Thanks Quote
Al Wolbach Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I have been using it in my 225 Yamaha for about 2 years. Prior to Seafoam I was using a Yamaha product called Ringfree.................Al Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted June 2, 2011 Super User Posted June 2, 2011 I've been using it for about 10 years in all my small engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke). I use it all the time and it takes care of carbon, ethenol problems, and is a preserver. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I've been using it also. When I first started in the boat I own now after the first tank of gas I noticed alot of performance increase in the motor. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 2, 2011 Super User Posted June 2, 2011 Anything with an internal combustion engine Quote
Sfritr Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 If you search the site for Seafoam there are MANY old posts on this product. Suffice to say that you would be wise to purchase Seafoam, StarTron, or marine Stabil and add it to your fuel. StarTron and Seafoam are excellent for both stabilizing and cleaning your carbs etc. Look for the best deals out there as I have seen it for 6.99 up to 10.99 per can Quote
madbass Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I was a diehard user of Seafoam until 2 seperate mechanics told me about Techron (made by Chevron). According to them, Seafoam has some Techron in it. The Techron costs more, but you need to use less and it REALLY works well. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 If anyone lives near a Northern Tools Store check their price for Seafoam. The Knoxville, Tn. store sells it for $6.48 per can 16oz can. This is not a sale price, this is their regular price. The local Advanced Auto Store has matched this price for me also...........Al 1 Quote
dulouz Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I am new to boating, and have a friend helping me fix up an old motor and he put seafoam in it to help it run better. How often do you use it and how much to you put in? Quote

Carrington Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 is there any downfall to over mixing seafoam? like putting 2 bottles in for 20 gallons? Quote

Follow the directions on the can.................Al I never thought of following the directions... :)If I had read the label on my motor I would have saved half a days worth or searching the internet trying to find the right gas/oil ratio. Super User Wayne P. Posted June 15, 2011 Super User Posted June 15, 2011 I was a diehard user of Seafoam until 2 seperate mechanics told me about Techron (made by Chevron). According to them, Seafoam has some Techron in it. The Techron costs more, but you need to use less and it REALLY works well. I looked at the mfg. advertizement for Techron and it doesn't mention it deals with ethenol moisture problems or is a storage treatment like Seafoam is. I looks like it does all the other stuff that Seafoam does. Does that mean if you use Techron you have to add something else to take care of all of it? Quote

Even Walmart is way more expensive. Quote
