Steven Ladner Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 All look beautiful Cliff, the pattern in the second picture grabbed my attention. I really like it, great color combo. Quote

BIG M Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Where are the plain baits? All I see are great looking baits with a boat load of detail. Quote

BIG M Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Takes too much time to lay that netting over the entire bait. Then you have to make sure it's even and such. I just lay my hoop over the back and shoot. By the time I'm finished building I don't want to spend any extra time painting. Maybe some day I'll try harder at learning some of the tricks with netting and stencils. Quote
Stringjam Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 The purple shad pattern is gorgeous, Cliff. Choice stuff as usual. Quote

I use minnow nets most of the time for my stuff. Lay it over the bait and pic you out one row of the ''holes'' for lack of a better word and put it dead center of the back. When you get that lined up all the other lines will be just about perfect. I just use clothes pins to hold the netting in place. one thing that I also do to the net is take some scissors and cut it on both ends of the middle seam so I can lay it on the bait straighter and get it straight faster. Of course many folks may know this stuff already......so it may help the folks that are just starting out with painting. Quote

I too use the clothes pins but have gone a step further. Since the pins are all the same width, I've used my belt sander to narrow the jaws just above the spring and they work great. Some are a 1/4" wide up to the normal width of the pin. Quote
