tjc76 Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Hello everybody. I was just curious to see how many members we have here from the Garden State. So I'll get it started, My name is Tom and I am addicted to bass fishing. I live in Bergen County. I try to wet a line everyday, although fishing time is at a premium. My goal for the summer of 2011 is to not fish with Senkos at all. Oh, and I want to catch lots of Smallies. So, any other Garden Staters out there? 1 Quote

BrianSnat Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Brian from Morris County. I live in Fayson Lakes and the lakes have some pretty good bass fishing, so this time of the year I'm out every other day or evening on one of the Fayson lakes. Quote
DDDman Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Monmouth County basser here. Getting back to the fresh after concentrating on the salt the last 7 years. Deal, Lefferts, Farrington and Assunpink are places I like to fish but my favorite is Manasquan Reservoir. Quote
Zach Dunham Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Sussex County here. I am from Pennsylvania though so I end up going back to Lake Wallenpaupack and various other PA lakes for most of my fishing. Occasionally hit Hopatcong though. Quote
Bass9Man Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 What's up Jersey... I'm from Cumberland County. I mainly fish plastics. I will, branch off to Crankbaits, when i get my tackle up.. I'm just starting up again. It takes time to get stuff up and going Quote

I live across the river in PA but often fish in Sussex County. Quote

The Bassinator Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Morris County here mainly fishing lake and ponds around me every once in while Ill get up to split rock but I dont have a roof rack so I cant bring the john boat Quote
jerseyeagle Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I live in bergen county and would love to get a fishing partner with a kayak to show me some good spots in the area. I've been shore fishing forever but am really unfamiliar when it comes to kayaking. Id also love to get on some walleye out of either monksville or swartswood if anyone who follows the thread would take me along one day or get out there on the kayak that would be awesome. For all others reading this outside of NJ there are big bass here got my PB this past July 8.2 LMB. Quote
BiteFishPlz Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Bergen Co. here. Fairly new to the sport, this site is helping a lot. I just picked up a Tarpon 120 this week and like jerseyeagle am pretty lost when it comes to the ins and outs of kayak fishing. Nevertheless I'm thrilled not to be stuck on the shore anymore and it's a good workout. Quote
BrianSnat Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Morris County here mainly fishing lake and ponds around me every once in while Ill get up to split rock but I dont have a roof rack so I cant bring the john boat I took the canoe out on Splitrock yesterday and did pretty good. Didn't fish very long but got 4 nice bass. Quote
SmokeRise1 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Another Morris County guy here. Fishing in Kinnelon and a few saltwater trips with my local club. Might have to try Split Rock as I've heard good things about it. Maybe hit it this winter with some tip-ups. Quote

The only problem I have about where I live is that I live in the worst place for fishing, and since I can't drive yet, i'm stuck here, without a good lake or river for miles. Happily, I work at a fishing dock for a camp, for the South Jersey people, you might have heard of it, JCC Camps at medford. Caught some really nice fish there, very recently in fact , and I get to fish EVERY weekday in the summer, which is the only reason I keep going back. Quote

Same here, live bait, but I only do that because I have no choice, the lake I fish is an anglers worst nightmare, ONLY live bait works, we've barely caught anything on lures. If you have absolutely no tackle, then I would definitely suggest getting some Senko or Yum plastic worms first (although I doubt you have absolutely no tackle). I've been told that little rapala's are amazing for bass, I have a little original floater perch colored and it works pretty well (even at my lake). Thats just very general, though, and possibly not what you were asking, in which case I will probably be a little embarrassed :/. Quote

Quigz Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 John from Bergen County here, just like the OP. Unlike the OP...I used Senko's 85% of the time! My goal this year is/was to fish somewhere OTHER than the United Water Rezzies...so far, thats only happened once! Oh...and after 25 years, I would like to actually catch a fish at Wawayanda, that place continues to be the bane of my existance...an almost 3 decade skunk! Quote

Might have to try Split Rock as I've heard good things about it. Maybe hit it this winter with some tip-ups. I do most of my fishing in Kinnelon too. I'm usually out on one of the Fayson Lakes (mostly West Fayson) 2 - 3 nights a week. Split Rock is great if you have a canoe, kayak or maybe a lightweight aluminum boat that you can carry to the put in. I tend to get spoiled with great bass fishing practically in my backyard and rarely go elsewhere. Monksville or Round Valley once in a while and maybe a stream during trout season, but 90 percent of the time it's Fayson. Quote
tjc76 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 I am glad to see so many responses to this thread! Keep em coming. Maybe at some point we can arrange a fishing get together or mini tournament at a central location in the state. 1 Quote
