stkbassn Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I'm considering a rod for Jigs and Texas Rigs....they're both rated for 1/4- 1 1/2 oz baits and both MH Powell Max 7'6 or Kistler Argon 7'1 I'm using a Citica 200DSV for now but may get a Curado 200DHSV to go with it. My question is one will be the better rod for medium light to heavy texas rigs ? I really need this rod to double as a worm/jig rod..... Quote

stkbassn Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 http://www.tacklewar...scpage-PEC.html id say the powell 7,2 mag heavy Thanks, I checked it out. I really like those Powell Rods from what I've seen and heard. I forgot to mention one thing about my post.....Both of these are from individual sellers and the Kistler I can get for $118 and the Powell for $143 Both seem like good deals....I'm leaning toward the Kistler because it's a bit shorter.... .Paxamus. Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Go with the Powell, I have both types of rods and love the Powell! Kistler is a nice rod but if you break it, you are sending it back and paying a good amount of money for their "warranty". If you break a Powell, send it back and get a new one!! Quote

I have hear that Powell has an excellent warranty and top rate service. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever heard a bad word said about them. That goes a long way these days for sure. I appreciate the advice. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I bought my first Powell last year (704C). I loved it!! I now own 3 Powells and plan on getting more. They are great rods for the $ IMO. And like it was said, the warranty is next to none. I broke my 704C Max series and got back a 714 Endurance for free! So not only did I get a new rod, but i got an upgraded rod. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 3, 2011 Super User Posted June 3, 2011 I just bought a powell max about twenty minutes ago. Then I find this thread. I feel like I did good in getting the powell. Quote
repper Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 if u haven't bought a rod yet there's a new Argon rod for sale in the claasifieds for $95. u should jump on that!i have a couple of argons & a powell max. the argons are sweet. i think they retailed for $200+. while the warranty may not be as good i wouldn't buy a rod based on the warranty. i've had my argons for 2+ years w/o issues.
