I've been retired about 10 years, fish nearly every morning. I'm up no later than 1:00am, leave the house about 3 or 4 and head to the ICW or beach, for me nothing beats fishing the beach just before and after sunrise. I reserve my afternoons for some bass fishing, in the cooler months. All in all I get a lot of fishing time in and fish for a wide variety of species.

Good luck in your retirement, just go fish, I meet up with lots of people I know before sunrise.

Welcome to the club. Ain't life grand when you get to the stage that you are not at the mercy of the weather? If the weather is good, you can go. Is it a nasty weekend? So what? You can now go on Monday, or Tuesday, or any other day as long as it ends in "y".

Shoot, I avoid fishing on the weekends altogether since I retired 1.5 years ago (I'm 53 now). Why mix is up with all the fishing and wake boarder traffic when you can have the water almost to yourself during the week?

Congratulations, and enjoy.

Same here! Congrats on making it to the fun part. ;)

On weekends, I fish here. No jet skis, no wakeboarders, hardly any other fishermen. The most boats I have seen on the pond is two or three others. Most of the time, I have it to myself, as it appears in these photos. Best of all, it's five minutes from my front door. And no, the last photo is not a Northern. It's a chain pickerel.
