Out of all the posts I see on lures this is one I rarely see. How many of you guys fish these on a regular basis? I use to fish a ton of 5" chompers skirted grubs. I just ordered some more and going to be putting them to the test again. Whats your favorite presentations? I've always c rigged them or fished them on a jighead.

i put 5-inch yamamoto hula grubs on heavy 3/4-oz. football head jigs and drag 'em along the bottom in the early spring.

I use them as jig trailers. I usually cut them in half and use either side depending on what I'm feeling. Sometimes I'll use the whole grub as a trailer when I want a beefed looking presentation.

Its funny you bring this up. I was going through a pile of plastics just the other day and came across 7 or 8 bags of the ol yamamotos. I threw some in the boat and plan on trying them the next time I go. I used to fish them on the oldham screw lock jig head. I think I will opt for a football head this time around.

I use the Fat Albert and Kalins as swimjig and spinner bait trailers. Usually I have more success with them as swimjig trailers.

Funny you mentioned that, I just found some the other day when I was cleaning out an old tackle box. Used them for smallie fishing a lot. I remember just using them on a jig, never thought about c-rigging.

Great Post!

Football heads, for the most part.

On one of the local power plant lakes a 5" Chompers on a 3/8 or 1/2 non-skirted football jig bounced down the rip rap can be deadly. I fished a few days last week at my favorite lake and fishing was really slow. A 5" Chomper T-rigged with a pegged 3/16 oz weight worked slowly on the outside of the grass was the best answer. Any color as long as it was green or brown...

I also like them on a shakyhead in clear water. Great baits and the Chompers are reasonably priced, and warewolves should not be a problem... ;)

Football head hopping main lake points early in the year. I may flip them on some lakes, too.
